@bobsmith5101 your friend is wrong. Also, who cares?
@Robinyoursoul it’s like @Mycatsnameispups said - give it time. Also I’m pretty sure that there’s a separate veteran committee that reviews our applications. There’s no way all four of us got rejected from a “military friendly” school
I do wounder how many vets actually apply to Georgetown as transfers.
@bobsmith5101 Hey man the university demographics are online you can google it. It’s also about 46% white, over 50% female, with just over 50% being non white minority.
@bobsmith5101 I’m a DACA student, latino. AKA “undocumented” (but not really) first generation college in the US and I got in. I also know friends up in GU that are Hispanic as well. I don’t think they care too much about that in admissions. But most people in GU are white (nothing wrong with that).
I got accepted to SFS on Thursday May 4. My major is Science, Technology and International Affairs. I applied for financial aid, but haven’t heard from them yet. I am an international student, and some students told me that they do not offer financial assistance to international transfer students.
Got my FA package yesterday, I’m low income and they pretty much gave me a full ride. If anyone is worried about not being able to pay for GU, don’t be. Holy sh*t
idk if it was bc I asked for an early review and it pissed them off or what, but theyre like sorry ***** you ainnntttt getttinnn in boiiiii @SallyByGravenor
@nottodaycc awesome job getting into Brown. Best of luck out there.
After seeing some of the comments, I’ve decided to stop worrying about waiting for the decision email. Like @Mycatsnameispups said, I’m a professional in the “hurry-up-and-wait” business and will do just that. If the end of May comes around and I still haven’t heard anything I’ll put my deposit down for GWU and continue to wait it out.
Echoing comments about FA- My family’s financial situation was all over the place this year and our FAFSA was a mess so we had to submit a ton of extra documentation. My parents are divorced but have a joint college account for me and my sister and both contribute to cover the full cost of my education. We’ve learned the hard way that high incomes + big savings + confusing financial situation = no aid.
Not at Georgetown. Still didn’t get any grant aid, but I qualified for work study and have the option to take out additional low-interest loans not offered to me by other schools. This might not sound like a lot but it’s by far the best offer I’ve gotten. I’ve ultimately decided not to enroll at GU, but still wanted to give a shoutout to their financial aid office for giving me something to use as leverage in my fight to get work study at the school I will be attending
