The acceptance rate was 13% for transfers this year according to an admissions dude at accepted students day
So I’m at Georgetown now for a week for a summer program…man, what a beautiful campus.
@Ireallywhat2 it’s not 20 courses, it’s 40, 20 of which must be done in GU. And all SFS transfers are classified as Sophomore’s upon entering. I’ve spoken with the Dean of SFS already and I’ve been told there a minimum 6 semesters to be completed.
@Gonzalo0927 I know and according to the transfer evaluation I do have 18 courses qualified to transfer, and as an international student I would be able to graduate with 38 courses which is good enough, and I have spoken with one of the admission officers, she told me that it only takes a minimum of two years to graduate from SFS, and once we declared our major in September, we will be classified as Juniors.
did you get accepted? @Robinyoursoul
@EconDon23 I did not! Still hoping to get accepted off of the waitlist. Currently enrolled and all scheduled to attend George Washington U, however.
I got a call from my admissions counselor this morning asking if I was still interested in being on the waitlist, did anyone else get something similar?
I didn’t get that call but it sounds promising. Has anyone heard whether admissions is definitively planning on going to the waitlist and if so how deep into it? From what I can determine it looks like they were planning on a 65% yield.
@kc15780 did you express interest to remain on the waitlist when you got waitlisted? Like did you give back the form? and @HilltopHoya how do you know this?

I used the following data points: 190 slots to fill - 2200 applicants - 13.3% acceptance rate. Based on that data the school offered 292 acceptances. A yield of 65% of those acceptances gets to the 190. It’s a ballpark estimate but the 190 and 2200 came from acceptance letters and I read the 13.3% acceptance rate either on this board or from a Georgetown site.
@internaute I sent in the form when I got it, other than that, I really didn’t do anything.
@kc15780 what school did you apply to?
@internaute I applied to Georgetown College
Coming up to that July 15th date.
Just so you guys know they made a Georgetown transfer 2017 group and they have had 12 new members recently. So that might mean they took some people off the waitlist already or students have said yes. Currently about 100 students said yes.
I got an email from my admissions officer requesting my Spring quarter grades and to confirm that I’m still interested. Hopefully, that’s a good sign!
I was also asked to send in spring semester grades. Who knows what it’ll bring!
I got in this afternoon! Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear back!!!
do you guys think they let everyone know who gets off the waitlist at the same time?
