We’re going up to DC this summer and wanted to stay somewhere right in Georgetown where we can walk to shops and restaurants. Someone suggested the Four Seasons but that’s out of our budget. The Savoy suites were mentionned, also the Latham and Georgetown Suites but I read some not so great reviews. A Doubletree, Embassy Suites, or Westin…something like that would be great but I can’t figure out which are IN Georgetown or sort of NEAR G’town. Any help most appreciated!

We stayed at the Georgetown Suites and liked it.

They are definitely IN Georgetown, a good location I thought.

The hotel I think of as the “Hinckley Hilton” (there’s another Hilton in DC; this is the one where Reagan was shot) is just at the top end of Georgetown on Dupont Circle. It’s a nice walk.
Loved Georgetown Suites when we stayed there a few years ago!

Here’s another thought…we often stay across the river in Rosslyn, VA. Its a short walk over the Key Bridge to the western end of M Street. We’ve stayed at the Courtyard and the Residence Inn; both are nice. There’s also the Key Bridge Marriott which is right at the edge of the Key Bridge.

While not “in” Georgetown, but just blocks away, the Fairmont is a great hotel. We usually get a room with their friends and family code for much less than any other hotel in the area. As a four star hotel, the Fairmont at the cost of a Holiday Inn can’t be beat!

Thanks for the suggestions, all. I ended up booking the Georgetown Suites for the location and convenience, and we’ll see how it goes. The price certainly was right and since CC’ers will vouch for it we’ll give it a shot!
