compare the two schools…

Last time I checked, Hopkins English Department was ranked in the top ten in the nation, and Writing Seminars was ranked number 2. Of course, these rankings relate to the graduate programs, but the faculty is the same and, except for a few seminars open only to Ph.D students, so are the courses.

I think you’re assessment is correct–you will work harder at JHU than Georgetown. but both are great schools and you will not be making a serious mistake either way. If you have (or can develop) good time management skills–you can do well at Hopkins and still have a very good time.

I live right around both of these schools…and my parents teach at both yet I still know next to nothing about them.

I guess it all depends on what you want. Both are really great.
Georgetown = much more classy, city vibe.
And any premed at JHU can count on a great experience.
That is all I can give you though…I’m just a high schooler =/

bump… which is more “prestigious”?

Same, unless you are doing science in which case hopkins wins.

on and that’s entirely the wrong reason to pick schools

They are both about equal, although the superior social life would have me at Gtown over hopkins in a second.

JHU appears to be 1) more academically rigorous, and 2) more diverse in populations and intellectual diversity. Overall, I think the degree is recognized as a true academic experience (like MIT, CalTech, UChicago).

The social life at Hopkins is actually quite good - don’t let the reputation fool you.

If your going to major in a social science go to Georgetown, a Science or engineering field, go to Johns Hopkins. (Hopkins also has one of the best premed programs in the nation, but its cutthroat so be ready for that to become your entire life.

Nonsense. In fact, JHU’s social sciences are arguably better than Georgetown’s.

^^^^^^^^

Said more than likely from the JHU grad…

I still stand behind what i said.

Georgetown is poor. They will drop considerably in the years to come.

LOL. I don’t have any affiliation with either one. I do, however, have the sense to check reputable rankings before making absurd statements.

Economics
JHU #32
Georgetown #54

History
JHU #9
Georgetown #50

Political Science
JHU #21
Georgetown #37

Psychology
JHU #35
Georgetown #126

Were exactly did you get those? U.S. News possibly? Every wonder how they rank programs? Wouldnt be based at all on the schools endowment or anything right? Thats usually the absolute best measurement of a programs strength…

Georgetown = All Hype…

JHU is just flat out better

Dr. House went to johns hopkins.

End of story.

Why is Jorgetown all hype?

Well, House went to Hopkins med school, but he and Cuddy went to U Mich undergrad, where according to her, “he was a legend”.

mythmom- just to set the record straight, House went to Hokpins undergrad and med school, was expelled, and went to UMich med school where he met Cuddy:

“After receiving his undergraduate degree at Johns Hopkins University, House studied at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine until classmate Phillip Weber reported House for copying exam answers from him.[14] Following his expulsion from Johns Hopkins, he applied and was accepted to the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor where he received his M.D. and met Lisa Cuddy, his future boss.” Wikipedia

bluejay79: So, I had it backwards. Thank you so much for setting me straight.

And where did Wilson go?
