Georgetown Transfer Questions

I received an e-mail telling me I was missing ACT/SAT scores. I e-mailed back saying when I sent them and they ended up finding them. I guess this means they’re beginning to review applications.

I think that their late notification means that mean that we basically mean that we have to put a deposit down somewhere else for those of us that are definitely transferring. I really wish they would tell us sooner!

Random note: So, i finally told all my friends here in Montreal that i was APPLYING for transfer. They got really upset thinking I had ALREADY transferred. LMAO, it’s so annoying when people automatically assume that since you’ve applied, you WILL get in. I really hope I do now cos otherwise it’ll be super-embarrasing lol.

Anybody with a similar experience??

i’m waiting until i get the decision letter. that way, if it is a rejection, it won’t be embarrassing because nobody will have known.

There shouldn’t be anything embarrassing about a rejection, and if your friends view it as so… then they’re not great friends, are they? It’s all about numbers and luck, really. Not all of us are qualified for admission to GU, but many of us are and have extremely similar credentials, so getting rejected is really just bad luck for most applicants.

does anyone have an idea when the decisions will be released? Is there a thread we can look to from last year or the year before so that have a better idea when we will be hearing back?

It seems from previous threads (specifically '09) that they started notifying applicants on the very beginning of May. But that was mainly for NHS, and the college… SFS was later.

I think I’m actually more stressed out now. Expecting to wait a month and a half is one thing, but knowing that I could hear back within 3 weeks will make it rough if I don’t hear immediately on the 1st.

Good luck everyone!

Has anyone had any luck calling Admissions to confirm application/materials receipt and/or to check up on interviewer availability? I’m considering calling tomorrow, but if people have been told that they’re still sorting through everything, I’ll wait.

I called yesterday and they said that they would contact all applicants by next week if there are any required documents missing from their files.

i have an interview with a georgetown alum this week and i was wondering if anyone could give me any advice or tips on how I should prepare.

I had my interview a few weeks ago and it went well. Most of these things you’ve probably already thought of, but this is what I did and I felt happy about the outcome.

Definitely research your major & see what G’town in particular has to offer in comparison with other schools.

Mention some faculty that you’ve read about & look forward to studying with.

Have an idea of some EC’s you’d like to be a part of.

Just be yourself.

I think they pair people with similar interests/backgrounds. My interviewer had been part of the dance program & I dance, so we had a fun conversation about that. I think reading articles about G’town really helped too, b/c every subject she brought up - dance, her religion prof., I had read a cool article about G’town that I could relate it to. By the end of the conversation it felt less like an interview and more just like chatting with an interesting person I happened to meet.

Best of luck.

GREAT advice pinknebula! I hope I get called for an interview sometime. I haven’t received any correspondence from them so I’m getting worried!!

i got an email a week or two ago about interviews, responded, but still have not heard back.

@ ctguy

Is it safe to assume by your username that you’re transferring from a school in Connecticut? Which school? I am too, but I haven’t been contacted for an interview yet.

got into Cornell.Sending my deposit asap. Skipped my georgetown interview on purpose. If i do get in i will gladly give up my spot to one of you guys.

Congratulations Castiel! That’s amazing!

p.s: Are you withdrawing your application??

@ crown7

I can’t speak for ctguy, but I’m from a school in CT and haven’t been contacted for an interview either. I’d prefer not to say which one, but it’s one of the 3 NESCAC colleges. Perhaps we know each other.

Thank you very much! Ha I am waiting for financial aid, if it pulls through then yes. :D

@ drob

Possibly! I’m at Wesleyan, although I hear Trinity has a really good reputation at Georgetown. I’m not sure about Conn College.
