Georgetown Transfer Questions

K… Never mind about the region stuff. It’s the grades… most likely. And if I recall correctly flowerhead said that those with the stronger academic background usually hear first.
So I keep my hopes up.

it’s definitely a grades/test scores trend. as some people have pointed out, only CCers applying to the College have heard. is it somewhat safe to assume that SFS will come later-- regardless of gtown’s method of sending out decisions?

I’ll fill one out to give those of you without stellar high school stats some hope:

Transferring From: A NESCAC after 4 semesters
Accepted To: Georgetown College
Major: Political Science + Economics —> Political Economy at Georgetown

SAT: 1420/2150
HS GPA: 3.26 at a top private school
College GPA: 3.83

Extracurriculars: Leading Member of 4 organizations plus tutoring for 5th graders
Essays: I had strong reasons for wanting to attend Georgetown.

Other: I doubt this mattered, but my main IR professor is an alum, and he wrote on my behalf.

Don’t give up hope just because you didn’t have a 4.0 in high school.

Hey my friend got accepted today. Since he isn’t a college confiential-er, I thought I would post his stats for everyone. I can’t wait to hear from the SFS…

Transferring From: a CA Community College
Accepted To: Georgetown College
Major: Philosophy

SAT: 2000
SAT2:
ACT:

HS GPA: idk…from a prestigious school in South Africa
College GPA: 4.0

Extracurriculars: Philosophy Club Pres., Tutor…

Other: great essays…international student from South Africa…24 years old…

hey guys. i got accepted to the college! ill post stats for the curious…

transferring from northwestern university as a freshman
college gpa (after 2 quarters): 3.93
major: english
hs gpa: 4.3 w, not sure uw
no rankings at my hs
sats: CR 800 M 770 R 710
great college recs, decent extracurriculars and all that…
oh and i applied last year as a hs senior ea, was deferred and then didnt get in

good luck to everyone waiting!

@ Flowerhead:
The only trend I’m noticing is that all were accepted to the college with the exception of one MSB. If that’s the hint, it’s bad news for me…

not true. there was one MSB acceptance posted here. just more College acceptances because the college is a larger school in terms of enrolment.

I really hope there are going to be more waves of acceptances.

@Hookedongtown: That’s what I thought at first too, but the ratio seems to be off… there must be 8 college acceptances, and only 1 MSB, and no nursing or SFS??

@transferstudent2: Don’t worry, there will be. :] It doesn’t matter when you’re accepted, just that you’re accepted!

Everybody knows that? The following info may useful if u apply MSB:)

In addition to students entering the program each fall, Georgetown welcomes approximately 50 transfer students from across the country and around the world.

@markkiage

im a bit confused, how is that useful haha?

S/He’s (sorry) basically saying that MSB accepts about 50 transfers every year.
Correct me if I’m wrong.

lol its messed up, 45daysinrome ur absolute right, that’s what i mean, simple as it is. who else got in MSB? Just curious, can’t wait for the result.

oh i was just wondering what the acceptance meant then or what that figure represents i also applied to MSB

I guess only few lucky applicants will receive their offer. Michaelungerrr…did u received any email yet.? I was like checking mailbox every 10 minutes…hhhh…it drive me crazy!!

no, ive been unfortunately checking too haha perhaps tomorrow? wishful thinking i suppose

i’ve been checking every 10 seconds hahah :)

I’m pretty sure if they send out any more decisions via email, they will only come during office hours, probably at the end of the day so they don’t have to field a bunch of calls right away.

damn it sounds like a good amount of acceptances were sent out today, shouldn’t have gotten my hopes up lol. Congrats to all those who got accepted and to those who will be hearing about getting accepted in the near future.
