Georgetown Transfer Questions

Statistics for freshman admissions this year indicate that the College was slightly more selective than SFS!

The notion that the SFS is non-trivially more selective than the College has always been a myth, in my opinion. And no, I’m not biased. The numbers speak for themselves.

i’ve heard the college is generally more selective than the MSB. not really sure about it being more selective than the SFS.

really?? hmm. i’ve always assumed that msb would be more selective than the college because it’s usually harder to get into the business program of a given school.

Is it a question of selectivity or space available? College is larger than SFS, so there are more spaces, and therefore admission percentages are higher - correct? But then again, more people probably apply to College than SFS. I don’t know, trying to work it out just makes my head hurt. I guess it’s just best to accept that it’s all out of our hands at this point. Admittedly, it gets more difficult with each day no news arrives!

The acceptances for all the schools hover right around 20%. The college is the most competitive school; with the economy still trying to get back on its feet, students are opting for more general majors that allow more career flexibility instead of something specialized via MSB or SFS. However, the college has always been the most competitive due to the sheer amount of applicants it receives.

I don’t think the economy is the real reason behind the surge in applications to the College. Perhaps to Georgetown as a whole, yes. But the College? No.

Flowerhead, since some of us still haven’t heard, is it possible that our applications are still being reviewed? That is the impression that I got today, but I just want to be sure…

@ Flowerhead:

Actually, first year applications to Georgetown fell/remained the same this year.

I guess there are just some really dumb people out there who think the Hilltop isn’t worth their time. :P

-NYU Stern 2013 (for now)

It’s entirely possible that applications are still being reviewed, even likely. The committee doesn’t finish all the applications in one sitting.

I just got an alumni interview email a few days ago and set up my interview. Isn’t it kind of late for interviews?
I was debating whether I should have even followed up with the interview since I’m pretty sure I’m not gonna get in seeing as I got rejected from Cornell and wait listed at Vanderbilt. Georgetown SFS was a GIGANTIC reach for me.

you never know. what’s the harm in doing all you can?

Wow, this thread has really died. I guess Georgetown has finished making its decisions. Makes sense I guess–only 20% get accepted.

I dont think there finished. Atleast I hope not. I called the admissions office today and they said that there still reviewing applications. So hopefully that means more people will get accepted.

I have heard nothing since the “thank you for submitting part 2” automated email. Should I call? I have had horrible expierences with exhausted admissions people lately…

so, do any of you lucky admitted people plan on not attending gtown this fall? :p

just trying to gauge my chances on the waitlist. i am by no means discouraging you guys from accepting the offer!! haha

If a miracle happens and I get accepted to Duke, then no - I will not attend Georgetown. But like I said, that would be a miracle.

imo, gtown>duke

but rankings say otherwise. duke’s pretty nice still. one of my cousins was able to transfer there 2 years ago and she absolutely loves it.

hmm… Question: I wasn’t offered a Interview. (mind you I live in NYC, so there has to be a decent amount of Alumni) Is that a sign that I’m getting a pending rejection

Ugh, Im so anxious.

A few people who have already been accepted were not offered interviews.
