Would like to add that Georgetown allocated the housing credit and refunded themselves that amount (for students with scholarships). Just in case that part wasn’t clear. They gave themselves the money back and made decisions based on “individual circumstances” without checking in with students.
@monicakrr thanks for the helpful information. Kind of sucks to hear as a low income applicant but I had already considered that schools would be more hesitant with aid this year. Unfortunately I need quite a bit of aid so even if accepted by some miracle I might not be able to attend.
Appreciate the updates!
This is all speculative and based on word of mouth so I wouldn’t take it as something extremely concrete. I think just be ready to negotiate. If you’re a solid applicant you can push them. Also, remember school will probably be online next semester. So, while the school will inevitably lose money, they’ll also give reduced scholarships. So who knows!
@Ashtash do you remember when you heard back about your application?
@megree I got an early read in the first week of May because I had to make a decision regarding another school. I recommend looking at last year’s thread to get an idea of when people started hearing back. I remember people heard back randomly and not all at once
@Ashtash Wait so if you talk to admissions there’s a chance they’ll let you see your decision early if you’re in a time crunch with another school? Just asking because my second choice has given me an enrollment deadline of May 4th.
@megree yes, there’s a chance to request an early read. If you search last years transfer thread a couple people made this request.
@megree Yes, that’s what i did
Do you think decisions will be delayed this year?
@Transferiscomingsoon based on the missing materials email I received on the 16th admissions seems to be processing reviews as usual. Don’t think there will be a delay.
Was it missing materials about stuff they asked for in the application or other things like a mid-term report?
It was a high school transcript. I had it mailed directly from the registrar months ago but it wasn’t received.
Edit: I don’t think Georgetown requires a mid term report? Could be wrong.
@SatanFlower69 Yeah, I believe they don’t (at least I didn’t) but some people in the forum were discussing how to submit it before. I was just wondering if any indication of needing further materials was a sign of acceptance but of course, it’s probably just me jumping to conclusions. Good luck!
for those who requested an early read, how did you frame it? Did you say you had to respond to other colleges or were more vague about it?
I just got accepted to Georgetown class of 23 fall term! Anyone else?
I just got accepted also for fall 2020! Was not expecting to hear so soon and am super happy. Best of luck to people still waiting to hear!
Did you guys request an early read? I just had my interview today so not sure why the decisions are out so early. Also there’s nothing on my portal
Ditto to the above, except the interview part. Also, stats might be helpful. Congrats to you both!
I just got accepted! DIdn’t request an early read but I did have an interview in late March if that means anything
That’s amazing! Congrats to all of you! Like @SatanFlower69 said some stats/school would be helpful. Also, for freshmen, they send out acceptances by mail so was it different this year?
