Georgia Tech Class of 2024 EA Thread

As I posted above, mine shows the “Pay Now”. However, I also noticed that in the Personal tab it says: “If you would like for your hometown newspaper to receive notification for any term that you receive Dean’s List or Faculty Honors, please do the following: …” It would seem cruel to show this and then reject. ???

Yes

I didn’t apply for financial aid. I do not see the “pay now” button when I log in through OSCAR, but an optional survey asking about my ethnicity (?? doesn’t seem good). When I log in through the buzzport link, however, I see the pay now button. When I click on it, it says I don’t save access. Idk everyone, I guess we’ll just have to wait until tomorrow and see then.

@PuppyM I have that message too but no “Pay Now” link under the financial tab … there’s one elsewhere on the application but it says I don’t have authorization to this part

I see the same on personal information - If you would like for your hometown newspaper to receive notification for any term that you receive Dean’s List or Faculty Honors, please do the following:
Click on Update Addresses and Phone Information. Select the “HOMETOWN NEWSPAPER” address type. Enter a “Valid From” date (just put today’s date). Enter “OK TO SEND” on address line one. Enter the name of your hometown in the “City” field. Enter a State Code. Enter your Zip Code. Click the SAVE button.

Yes. But, I filled out all my financial aid stuff and I do not have “Pay Now”. I know someone who has filled out all their financial aid stuff and they do have “Pay Now”. So, it’s fair to assume that Pay Now is unrelated to how much financial aid you are applying for. Could still be meaningless, of course.

Everyone seems to have Pay Now on Buzzport, but only some people have it on Oscar. However, BuzzPort doesn’t seem to be tailored for every person. For example, BuzzPort also has a link for my class schedule, when I’m obviously not enrolled. Oscar seems to be more tailored for each person, like you can see all the financial aid stuff you’ve submitted on Oscar and it says that you’re an applicant (no indication that I’m an applicant on BuzzPort).

I don’t have the “pay now” tab – in state

I have the same message, but I don’t have a Pay Now tab. I actually tried to add a hometown newspaper address, but I didn’t see the option. Since you have the Pay Now tab could you see if that’s an option for you?

As in, follow the instruction to add a hometown address and see if you actually can. Mine only had billing address, personal address, etc. and no option for hometown (even though I got the message saying I could add one).

I’m not comfortable pushing too deep into the site.

Today, I see the ‘Pay Now!’ button. I didn’t see this ‘Pay Now’ button yesterday. We applied for ‘Financial Aid’ too. Let’s see …

D has the Pay Now link, when I click on it I get a Sorry you are not authorized to access this page type of message. We applied for financial aid

Is that in Oscar or BuzzPort?

I saw the Dean’s List statement too. I think it is just a general statement for everyone, but I am not sure.

@PuppyM That was in Oscar that I see the Pay now link.

@MathGuy100 I think you are correct about the Deans list and hometown newspaper statement- D has it too. It looks to me like something that everyone probably has

Interesting. My friend and I who are in state and have pretty good stats (35+ and 1500+, 800 subject tests and 4.0 uw) both don’t have the pay now option. I’m hoping there’s no correlation between acceptance and this button but we’ll see…

When I log into BuzzPort, it says it is “Generating Custom Layout,” then loads a page that is entirely student-oriented. When I click on the “Canvas” tab, it opens a totally-student-oriented page with this welcome: “Welcome to Canvas! You don’t have any courses, so this page won’t be very exciting for now. Once you’ve created or signed up for courses, you’ll start to see conversations from all of your classes.” Canvas also has a personal calendar with my name on it and links to “Courses” and “View Grades” etc. Does everyone have this?

@PuppyM I think everyone has that.

In the Pay Now window that displays the “not authorized” message, after clicking on student name in the upper right, it brings up the “My Profile” page with Student ID.
