Georgia Tech Class of 2024 EA Thread

@xGunner do you have the button?

Maybe the pay now button is linked to in state vs out of state applicants?

My son was given a GT ID when he applied back in October

yes

Hope this helps out, but I am an out of state applicant who did not apply for financial aid. But, I do have the pay now button on my OSCAR portal.

i am oos and applied for aid and have that button

I just confirmed that my Student ID that appears via the “Pay Now” link in Oscar is the same as my GTID.

Nah I mean it’s just that my friend and I are both in state and both have 3.9+ uw, 1500+ sat 35+ act 800 math2 and good ecs and neither applying to cs and neither of us have the button. They took 30 kids from my school last year so it seems unlikely that neither of us would get in based on this button theory so kinda uhhh

Worked for me. Same number as the “Student ID” in the Oscar portal.

I didn’t apply for aid and I have the pay now button

Looks like there is no known backdoor to admissions now. Just another 12 more hours, 8 of which are going to be lost in sleep. Good luck to everyone.

A 21% EA admit rate this year.

Honestly everyone, there’s no point worrying about it anymore. I’m stressed about my decision too, but @MathGuy100 is right. Let’s just get some sleep and check tomorrow morning. Nothing is going to change by then. Good luck to everyone tomorrow (I’m rooting for you) and remember that no matter what happens, I have no doubt that all of you are going to be extremely successful in college :heart:

We know that those accepted must pay, and those rejected need not pay. So the presence or absence of a pay button could be meaningful. At UMich last month it was the presence or absence of an “X” by “Final Transcript” in applicants’ portals that predicted with 100% accuracy acceptances versus rejections/deferrals.

I didn’t know that. Thank you for telling me.

Yep. I had the X by final transcript and got into Mich EA. I love tech tho. kinda sad :frowning:

Interesting, the EA acceptance rate is actually a little higher than last year 21% vs 19.7% and it looks like they accepted ~500 more than last year.

I think last year was 26% overall, 40 something for instate and 19 for OOS

One more observation about the ‘Pay Now’ button. Son has the button on OSCAR (OOS applied Financial Aid). Bellow that button is a link to ‘Financial Aid’. Clicking on that brings to a page with a couple of tabs. One tab is something like ‘Aid Eligibility’. Clicking on that, a new page shows:

2019 EA: 20% overall, 39.6% in-state, 14% OOS, 4000 accepted
