Act: 34

Class rank: 9/92
Gpa: 4.61 weighted and 3.98 unweighted
Ecs: Pretty good, lots of volunteer work and good school involvement (Stuco, Hosa council and internationalist, uil)
AP: School offers very few (only taken 5) did get a 4 on biology
Ethnicity/gender: White and Asian Male
Essays: I thought were very good
Overall thoughts: Ga tech was not one of my top options (due to competitiveness of school, low acceptance rate, and social scene) but still is a little bit concerning to get rejected considering my top options. Congrats to all who got accepted!!
Honors is done a little differently at GT. It is an LLC that you apply to separately.
http://honorsprogram.gatech.edu/
Also most of the students at GT would be honors level at most other schools so I am not sure it is as big of a deal here. S19 didn’t get accepted until RD and there were still spots available but he wasn’t really interested in applying.

go to oscar.gatech.edu, login, go to admissions, and click on the fall 2020 application. note that when you login it will stay on a white page. click the back arrow twice so you get back to oscar and click secure access login again and it will come up with the menu
From what I heard, it’s not worthwhile to be in GT honors program.
Accepted In State! I also got into Princeton, so I will be turning down GT. 4.0, 1570, 800 (m2), 780 (lit), 720 (chem). Gay White Male. Started a nonprofit, started a national awareness campaign, wrote for the NYT and UNICEF, did research at an Ivy League.

She loves this specific GT program, so will work for acceptance. Not about GT ranking, but interest in rare CS digital media program.
Accepted BME. 1550 , 16 AP, National AP scholar. 1/425 class rank. OOS.
Per above post, also accepted at Harvard SCEA, we aren’t so quick to overlook GTech. Stamps scholarship would be a game changer and likely would have us politely say no to Harvard. GTech #8 internationally in computer tech, well plugged into silicon valley etc…
BTW found section of Tech website that shows scholarship timeline and list Jan 18th 6pm as notification time on portal for initial round Stamps finalist, so keep an eye out!

Comments: Not overly surprised as GT was one of her stretch applications and not too disappointed either as already have some good acceptances with more decisions to come yet. But still a bit of a hit to get first rejection.
Have acceptances from Purdue, WPI, U of Delaware and Rutgers with a deferral from Case Western. Still waiting on U Mass at Amherst, Virginia T, RIT, U Maryland CP, Vanderbilt (reach).
This is a long journey and its going to go to the wire I feel at the end of April!
Congrats to all that got accepted to GT today
PS Oscar account did not have the Pay Now option yesterday - seems to be a good predictor of not being accepted.
Hmm… lots of good stats getting rejected or deferred. It probably came down to the essay (I guess). I am sure those stats will be good for the other school.
PADude: Congrats and thanks for the info on the Stamps. That is something we are on the lookout for.

I couldn’t find the section you are referring to. Do you mind providing the URL?
The one I found just mentions “mid-January”, and they are initially selecting 325 semi-finalists for 40 eventual spots, which is a lower rate than GT admission, and is primarily service and leadership-based.
More info on Stamps selection process:
“Our program focuses on four pillars: scholarship, leadership, progress and service. Let’s say we see a student who is solid gold in all their pursuits, but they’ve spent only a little time in service. While the student’s overall quality is high, their fit for our program is not, as service is a fundamental trait we value.”
