Rejected from Scheller Business
OOS White Female
1580 SAT, 3.86/4.35 GPA (9th-11th)
Several AP and Honors classes
Extremely competitive HS
ECs: Choir and a cappella with leadership, volunteering, NHS, government club VP, sports up to JV
Strong recommendations, and I put a lot of time and thought into GT’s supplement.
I feel that I am very well-rounded, but I did not have a particular “hook” in my application.
I was stunned that I was fully rejected - was expecting a deferral. From the stats I’ve seen, Scheller alone has a higher acceptance rate than Villanova Business, yet I was not only accepted to VSB but also invited to Villanova’s honors program. Really weird how things work out.
WHITE MALE
Hyped.
Daughter was deferred into engineering. Out of state. 1470 SAT (maybe low 1500’s if you superscore with ACT). Class rank 9 out of 650. Has been accepted to Purdue with 10K merit scholarship, so we’re hopeful she goes there instead of waiting on GT.
Rejected
OOS white male
ACT - 35
Class rank- 8/300
GPA: 3.9 uw
AP’s : got 5’s on all AP tests Took all that was available all four yrs.
EC’s: played sports all for years, good amount of extra curriculars, clubs, etc.
Good recommendations but guessing got rejected because of lack of clubs/ ec’s related to my major.
Did anyone receive info on merit awards?

Hi everyone! I got deferred I’d be lying if I said it didn’t hurt since I really would have likes to to there
Here are my stats:
-1510 SAT (took it as a sophomore)
-760 Bio, 750 math
-out of state student
-4.0 Unweighted, 4.69 weighted (that was my gpa when i applied)
-Rank: 5/635

-Envirothon, Student Gov, bowling, archery, a few other things that I’m blanking on right now
See ya on the GeorgiaTech RD thread! Also, I got deferred from MIT & UChicago if that helps anyone
I got accepted for Computational Media!
Demographics: Asian (Chinese) male, first-generation
OOS - Florida
GPA is 4.0/4.0 unweighted; my school’s weighted scale is wonky and not applicable
Superscored SAT Scores: 1540 (760 Reading, 780 Math)
Class rank: 23/147; not top 10% but top 20%
Activities:
APs:
Ten AP Exams taken; eight with score of 5, one with a score of 4, one with a score of 3.
Senior Year Courseload:
Recommendation was from my Calc BC teacher.
I felt like my Common App essay and my Why Georgia Tech essay was what ended up getting me in. My Common App essay was really personal about a tradition that my family goes through each year. For my Why Georgia Tech/Major essay, I made sure to give specific examples of how the resources at GT would let me explore an interest in how interactive mediums influence human behavior.
I had the Pay Now button when I checked an hour before decisions officially came out.
@TheVulcan Congrats. If he were to make the Stamps finalist with GT, would you guys choose GT over Caltech or MIT that he has been admitted to? Just curious. I have also made the Stamps President’s & Gold Scholars semifinalists with GT. I have applied RD to MIT and Caltech.
A few more EA stats:
For the 21% admitted, 40% GA admit rate and 15% OOS admit rate
22% Deferred
52% Denied
5% other (cancled, closed, incomplete)
Profile:
42% Female
54% non-engineers
Mid 50% SAT: 1450-1550
Mid 50% ACT: 32-35
No Stamps… silver lining don’t have to make tough decision on Harvard…off to Cambridge
Congrats!
We would have to do a lot of soul searching.
Thank You. It confirmed that DD got the intended major, CS (OOS).
I did not know one could do EA to 2 private institutions - MIT and Caltech. I guess it is not REA and hence possible. Is that correct?
