Is there any official word when EA results will be released?
January 18th. It’s on your applicant portal.
anyone know how the ignite program works? I selected yes for the option. when I look on lite.gatech.edu and under the admissions tab, I see that there’s a summer option. does that option mean the ignite program or what?
@xGunner the ignite program is the summer program for incoming freshman. For some it is required for admission, but any 1st year can opt in as long as there is space. If you check yes on your application dosen’t mean you will be required to attend unless they only offer you summer admissions. Not really sure how they decide who they will only offer summer admission too. I would guess they are applicants GT thinks need a little head start? S19 checked yes but was offered fall admission and did not opt in.
Well i honestly just hope it gives me the slightest boost in chances. Just checked the admissions Instagram an hour or two ago and we’re looking at just shy of 41,000 total applications… that’s a 10.5 or so % increase from last year. Seriously just end me
Do the 41,000 also include the Regular Decision applicants?
Yes, 40,836 total. EA was ~22,000
How do you apply for the summer term? Do you just have to hit “yes” on the summer interest option on Common App?
@MathGuy100 yes, that tells them you would be willing to accept summer entry.
So do I count as a summer applicant or fall applicant?
You will be considered for fall first but are willing to accept summer entry. Even if you mark summer you are considered for fall first.
So when are you considered for summer then?
I tried this site
https://admission.gatech.edu/visit/gold-carpet-day
and did “Register Now” near the bottom. I am wondering if different outcomes will show.

In my case, after logged in, texts shows
“Thank you for your interests in … (and a couple of more paragraphs) …”

I honestly don’t know what criteria they use to decide they want to accept you but think you need the early summer session. You only take 6 or 7 credits to easy you into college life. I do know if offered summer session acceptance, that is your only option for GT. You can’t change to fall but they will allow you to choose the summer session start if accepted to fall.
Last year there were a few people that actually were accepted to the summer session during EA, but then some people that were deferred to RD and then accepted got fall admissions.
@Class20242034 Tried the Gold carpet registration link you posted above and got this response:
"Thank you for your interest in Georgia Tech!
This event is only for admitted students who have received a decision in the Regular Decision Round and who have not attended or are currently not registered for another Admitted Student Information Session…(and other paragraphs)
Note: the College of Engineering portion of this event is now full. Students within the College of Engineering are encouraged to instead attend one of our admitted students information sessions."
So since D applied EA and this mentions that the registration is only for students who received a decision in the Regular Decision round I am wondering if this is old verbage from last years application cycle? It may not mean anything, or it may mean something. But if it means something I’m not sure what it means, accepted, not accepted??
What are you guys getting when you access the link for early action in this paragraph? My daughter just gets a blank calendar with no option to sign up which I assume everyone is seeing until decisions come out next Saturday.
“February 17, 2020 - Early Action admits only
Registration open now (see link below).
Students admitted in Early Action who were unable to attend Gold Carpet Day in February are encouraged to attend one of our admitted students information sessions.”

Admitted First-year Information Sessions
Admitted first-year student sessions are offered the last week of March through mid-April.
Admitted sessions are designed to help admitted first-years learn more about Georgia Tech. Students will learn more about our campus, culture, and the next steps in the process of becoming a Yellow Jacket. Students will have the opportunity to meet other incoming students in the Class of 2023. (NOTE THIS IS LAST YEAR—SO GT HAS NOT UPDATED)
Then BLANK Calendar.
