Georgia Tech Class of 2024 EA Thread

I’m sensing a pattern with high-stats OOS defer-accepts…
yikes.
(1590, 3.93/4.73, OOS Engineering, deferred then accepted)

Anyone know when we can expect financial aid information to come out?

ACCEPTED!!

OOS
Deferred EA

I sense a pattern with oos kids getting deferred then accepted. Also, it feels strange to me that I have to go all the way to Oscar to see my major. Shouldn’t it be somewhere more accessible?

Congrats to all!!

DS ACCEPTED!

dang got waitlisted after being deferred early action! why is tech not liking me? Can I do anything to improve my chances?

By my calculation, over 9000 students have been accepted thru the EA and RD rounds. If I recall they only accepted 7000 last year. GT must be concerned about the yield rate this year due to the GT applicant pool getting more and more competitive each year, and what’s going on with this virus. In any case, the wait list is not looking promising - unless they increase the class size significantly and/or the yield rate comes in much lower than past years.

Not sure where you are getting your numbers, but this year they accepted 7984 which is only 400 more than they did last year and about the same as they accepted 2 years ago. That is when they took 72 from the waitlist. They yeild has been increasing over the past 5 years.

The overall acceptance rate this year was just under 20% (38% Georgia and 16% OOS). There were 40,972 applicants this year and 34,332 were from OOS.

Racereer - thank you for correcting me. I was going by the GT Twitter feed # of applicants receiving RD round decisions multiplied by 20%. I think the # may have included transfer applicants. I guess there’s still a bit of hope for those waitlisted

@25Raider It looks like they finally released last years (2019-2020) Common Data Set and last year they took 632 off the waitlist. That is the highest number they have taken off the waitlist in recent history (back to 2003). Though, since they admitted 400 more students this year than last, I would expect the number taken off the waitlist to be much lower this year. It is hard to predict as the 2 previous years before it was 72 and 21.

You are probably right - the waitlist is not looking too promising this year. It’s going to depend on the yield rate but if the last few years’ trend holds, GT is likely to hit its target number needed by May 1.

Does anyone know when Finanical Aid packages will be released, and if this will include any other scholarships given by GT or the alumni associations?

I benefited from the early hint of pay now button  in Jan.
I generally do not post but only read the forums.

I especially came to post this at such a delayed date for one reason only!!!
So, this will be helpful for next year applicants…
“Pay Now link showed up day before the accepted decision”

Yes! To everyone reading this in preparation for the next app cycle, the key to admission is the “Pay Now” link located under the Financial Aid tab of OSCAR.
If you have it, you’re in.
If you don’t, move on to bigger and better things

Best of luck class of '25, COVID-19 is a tough one.

Got into GaTech and UT Austin and waiting for Berkeley’s decision. If I get into UCB, tough choice between GaTech and UCB else GaTech

Any one knows when the Financial Aid letter will be available?

THE PAY NOW BUTTON ONLY APPLIES TO STUDENTS WHO ARE NOT DUAL ENROLLED WITH GEORGIA TECH. If you are a DUAL enrollment student, that BUTTON DOES NOT MEAN JACK!

I ALWAYS HAD IT AND AM CURRENTLY WAITLISTED :\

I just talked to someone who works at GT and they said decisions should be out next week but that they might be delayed
