The followup email we got today is after they selected some students? Now I have 0 hope.
I don’t think they admitted anyone this month. I heard that many colleges are still accepting people of their waitlists, so GT is waiting till mid-July so that there won’t be too much movement in their accepted class and waitlist students (that’s my guess). That way they can hit their target class size.
Does anyone know their target as of now? We need one insider
I hope they still have spot for more than 1% of their target. Staying positive.
I hate to say it but it’s pretty obvious top schools like GT over admitted and over waitlisted this year - and the yield rate was not as low as many people expected based on the pandemic - Especially for CS and engineering. My OOS son was waitlisted at UM UCLA and GT and I have been following the CC boards and schools news about admissions and waitlist numbers. For the most part, students are generally not giving up these highly coveted spots because of some unusual external factors in order to enroll at a local university or community college - whether that is high cost, online classes, lack of freshman dorm housing, etc. Doesn’t mean nobody will get off the waitlist in June and July but if not part of the earlier waves, the chances of getting off now are very very slim… Remember the chances of getting off the waitlist are small to begin with. I think for us it’s time to move on and get excited for the school admitted to. FYI he’s enrolled at UCSB. Good luck to everyone - hope it happens for all of you.
I mean the email did say that as of right now they’re not offering any space and obv that could change but i’m not expecting much. just gonna have to wait and transfer i guess
I have a good friend that is high in the administration at CU Boulder (my flagship), and he says they have VERY high instate numbers and low OOS numbers. Their consultants have done extensive market research and polling, and they know a lot of their committed students are committed somewhere else too. He is very stressed about how this will come together because they might not have enough dorms or maybe they have empty dorms and a budget shortfall.
I bet GT is in a similar spot. They’re currently full but if enough commits don’t show up they will have spots open. Does anyone know when parents have to write a sizable non-refundable check?

How late they can let students know? I mean dorms are already booked now correct?
Yep I also want to know about that sizable non-refundable check? That might filter some.
Thanks
@AlwaysMoving and @tenseMom after paying the commitment deposit and housing deposit no major payments are due until 1 week after classes start. There is also some cost involved in orientation but they are doing it a little different this year so I am not sure.
Ahhh. I was hoping for a clean cutoff! Hopefully spots open up quickly.
Any news??
Hope to hear something soon.
Only 15 days left…
We called today and they told us it will last till July 30th .
The deferral application deadline is 7/24, so that makes sense
My portal shows the following:
Next Steps for Offer of Admission from Waitlist:
Complete the first-year offer of admission reply form by July 19, 11:59 PM ET.
If we do not receive your response by July 20, we will close your application to Georgia Tech.
But, There is no further info! Any idea, what does that mean?
Daughter just got email she got in. OOS Engineering.
My son still says May 1st stuff. I think they are giving out to OOS now
I got accepted off the waitlist for CS! But I’m currently committed to Cornell so I don’t know if I will accept my admission offer.
@calcuttaboy2002 That’s an acceptance!!! Check your spam, you should have gotten an acceptance email.
