Georgia Tech Class of 2030 Official RD Thread

can you guys check gatech instructure. i’m able to open folio now and i checked in the morning i couldnt open it.

it also looks a bit different i think i might have access to more stuff

I can log in but then it says “The campus transaction system was unable to identify the customer with the registration information provided. Please verify the transaction system customer registration information is correct and try again.”

Anyone else having this problem?

What is the cost difference?

Anyone know why GT would open registration for FASET at 2pm on a school day, when students are still at school? My D26 gave me her portal password so I could register her – but while I was filling out the info for her preferred date, it filled up – like within one minute – so I got one several weeks later.

I knew it would go quickly, but I didn’t know it would be like buying concert tickets. :joy: :sob:

Is all hope of getting the classes she wants lost if she doesn’t have one of the earliest orientation dates? (She wanted June 22 but got July 9)

It’s definitely like buying concert tickets! Same with choosing their dorm  they don’t release the entire schedule for the first FASET. They only release some seats in classes and release more seats in these classes for every FASET.

That being said, you have to be super flexible. You may get one or two classes that you actually want. Others may be at 8 AM, or something you don’t plan on taking. Just get a full schedule and then during phase 2, you can move things around. You also may need to take some things out of order or later than you desire.

It gets easier the more hours you accumulate (another benefit of both ignite and studying abroad freshman summer)

That is good to know, thank you!

I tried to talk mine into Ignite after reading more about it, but I couldn’t sway her. She’ll be joining the marching band and will go a week early for band camp and make connections that way, so she really wanted to enjoy her summer at home and not worry about classes or moving into a dorm for a short time – even if it would have given her some advantages. Ah, well.

Do you recommend taking four classes instead of five the first semester, to get acclimated?

That’s what my kid did. I think it really helped him. He had more time to pursue social clubs/groups etc. he also rushed. There are a lot of activities for freshman to get involved and to meet new people. Georgia Tech does a really nice job with this. So, just having the four classes really helped. Second semester he’s taken a regular load which was easier because there were just less distractions at that point. So, it worked for him. Also, don’t worry your kid will end up getting all the classes they want and need eventually but may not just be their perfect schedule with times especially as freshman. Also, your kid my want to do one of the Wreck Camps in the summer. My son had a lot of fun and made some connections there as well before school started.

Anyone else get into the Honors program at Georgia Tech? Can anyone speak on its benefits?

Sorry, accidental reply.
