we got rejected. What is ā€œopt-in for tranfer communicationā€ means. Does everyone gets this?

If you were offered a conditional pathway, it would have been in your letter. Be sure and read your letter closely. They are offered at the time of admission decision. Not every legacy applicant will get conditional transfer pathway. Scheller is not less competitive - acceptance rate is roughly the same as engineering. It’s a very small class with a lot of applicants.

As I posted above, the acceptance rate will likely be below last year, 8%, for OOS which puts it on par with the most competitive Ivy League schools for early admission. I know that doesn’t make it any better but know that this is a very tough admit. I am so sorry.

Yes, everyone should receive that who was declined. Basically it is a newsletter that they send out to people that are thinking about transferring to Georgia Tech with information, deadlines, etc. You have to opt in to receive it.

Denied for BME with offer for Talent Initiative Pathway Program as fall 2027 transfer.
OOS 4.0uw/4.95w 1540 SAT, lots of APs/IBs all 5’s, advanced math, NMSF

I am sorry. You have crazy good stats. It is hard to understand how this was a rejection. I am sure you have amazing options. I keep telling my daughter that the difference between these top engineering schools is apples to apples.

i didn’t get that, it gave a me a deferral form and told me to submit midyr report

It’s my daughter – and I agree! She is already very accomplished and has been accepted to some wonderful schools. She’s going to have some great options to choose from.

Plus I don’t know much about the transfer Pathway Program, but it seems like guaranteed transfer admission if she meets a few basic requirements?

So – unless I’m misreading – that’s an amazing insurance policy in case she doesn’t love where she ends up.

Thanks for your kind words, and best of luck to you and yours!

deferred. 1510 sat, 3.9 UW gpa, 13 de courses (all a’s, finished calc 2 last year), good essays, mid ecs. math + computing major

Not sure the Transfer Pathway Program means you can go to any college of your choice and transfer in if you don’t like it. I think it has to be a specified program and school affiliated with Georgia Tech. Then you have to meet certain requirements.

EA 2 Results. Only an 8% Acceptance Rate.

There are different pathways. This one specifies that she would have to complete the minimum course requirements for her intended major + 30 credits at a U.S. accredited college. Seems pretty straightforward.

That’s cool. Had not heard of it. Here’s an old link here that I found that discusses it.
