Georgia Tech Early Action Class of 2030 Official Thread

We could not find it anywhere. I thought they would inform regardless of the result. I am assuming, the stamps section may reflect only for the kids who qualified for it.

No, it was there. My son did not get it. The letter of rejection was somewhere on his applicant portal.

It looks like there are current parents on this thread. Does anyone have insights into whether Tech provides much help with scholarships/grants for those who DON’T make the Stamps or Gold programs? Like, 50-75% help for OOS.

Not the answer you want but info to noodle on. Last year year they gave 358 merit (about 9%) averaging $5332.

There is almost no out of state financial aid. Majority of out of state students are full pay. Need based aid focuses on in state Pell grant recipients as an institutional priority. The only merit awards for engineering and computer science students are the stamps/gold scholarships. Some of the smaller colleges like college of sciences or Ivan Alan or Scheller do give a handful ofDean’s Grants but typically they’re about $10,000 at the most and often much less. .

Not true, there are department merit scholarships. My MSE OOS student has a merit scholarship. It’s small, just 3K, but its something! Brings his cost below 50k.

Did he get that as a freshman? I knew those were available for upper classmen, but was not sure they were given out to freshman.

The departmental merit scholarships are granted to freshman, in-state and OOS, to my knowledge. However, I’ve not heard of one over $2-3k so it may not meet the needs of students seeking a significant financial award.

Yes, he received it as a first year. His advisor said they try to give them to OOS students since most of the in-state ones are on Hope or Zell. And yes, definitely not significant, but 3k is nice no matter what and we are happy to be under 50k!

As a current Tech parent I can tell you the band always looks like they are having the best time out there! There are all over the place. I’ve seen them play at the center of campus and then run to the football field, to popping up in the President’s suit in the stadium during a game and play for the mayor. They are always up to something and the campus culture at Tech is awesome. Congrats to your student. Go Jackets!

I don’t believe there is. I know our kid never did and based on the OOS families I’ve talked to while at Tech it wasn’t a very common occurrence.

Thank you for this! I would be overjoyed if my D26 chose Tech, although I have some niggling concerns about whether it’s the best overall fit for her. Still, we’re local, and it would be lovely (and cheap, lol) to have her in-state.

In-state people that get admitted to Georgia Tech are truly blessed. Says me with an OOS kid.
