This has been the longest week. Anyone else super nervous for EA1 Decisions tomorrow?
My In-State daughter applied for Business Administration. GT is her top choice.
GPA: Weighted 4.6, unweighted:4.0
SAT: Her weaknessā¦1260
APs: 13 and Dual Enrollment: 10
Class rank: 1st of 335 students; valedictorian rank
Good luck to your son! I have also heard Georgia Val/Salās are assured admission as well to both GT and UGA. We are still nervous until we see the āraining Buzzesā.
GATech is considered a top tech school now so all, GRA, rigor, EC, essays, will be all considered. From previous yearsā posts, top students with NMSF, AMO, 1600 SAT who got admitted into MIT, Duke got rejected from GATech. But this is basically for OOS, in-state will be a lot easier.
Extracurriculars are very strongly considered. They really focus on people who live up to their motto of āprogress and serviceā to their community. Of course you need to hit the other metrics but they really do focus on the other stuff. I think that was the difference in decision results for my three kids who all applied. The one who was waitlisted was not nearly as involved as the other two, and had no leadership roles. GPAs and test scores very similar.
We know in state people who got into Ivy Leagues and MIT early and were deferred at GT. Most got in regular decision but not all. I think the stats for in-state and out of state are extremely similar. The reason for the big differential in acceptance rates is mostly numbers/more applicants out of state.
Although I do not know for sure about Georgia Tech, at UGA the in-state pool is much stronger than the out-of-state pool per UGA admissions. My guess is Georgia Tech is the same way. They are both self selecting to an extent and weaker students typically donāt apply.
It would depend on how rigorous your studentās courses were, it matters which APs were taken, how advanced math pathway was, ECs, and your hometown county/school context.
Well, from what I know, on the internal site if someone sees their name under the Tech icon or something it means in; just to find out an hour later got rejected.
There were also people trying to read the css color code to see if it means anything. Unfortunately GATech, as being a top tech college, has made no holes left to explore.
