A quick question. My D25 submitted her application through common app and GaTech sent her the confirmation with the portal info. We are not sure why but the name addressing her in the portal is my name (Mom’s) but all other info is hers. We can’t figure out why. My D25 emailed GaTech to fix this possible glitch but they didn’t reply. It’s been 5 days. Is this something to worry about? A possible explanation is that she used my destop computer to send out her application. Not sure if this matters.
My D25 submitted her app to GaTech EA on Oct 2. But her counselor and teachers haven’t submitted their LORs yet. They said they will do it this week or next. Is there a cause for concern? Will the admissions be already reviewing the application without the LORs? A bit worried.
Note that Ga Tech has extended the EA1 deadline for GA residents impacted by Helene to Oct 31. The document deadline is unchanged.
Yes, the link I posted has that link as well within that page

Looks like they evaluate people in terms of how they stack up relative to other applicants from their high school. Have you checked that? FWIW his credentials are somewhat similar to my daughter’s (he has stronger math, I couldn’t convince her to take Calc BC…) and I give her about 30-35% chance of getting in since she is coming from a competitive high school. Admission is probably a bit more competitive for boys at Tech. Just my two cents.
This happened to my son last year and it seemed to “fix itself” after a few weeks.
Thank you so much. Up to now, about 9 days, GaTech did not reply to my question about the “wrong” portal name. But like you said, we will just wait. All info in common app is my D25’s name, so it should be alright.
Actually, we found that inside the portal, there is a place to update information. My D25 noticed that in the preferred name, somehow, it was my name (mother’s). Now, she has updated it. Presumably, in 3-5 business days, it will be corrected.
Application submitted for S25. Fingers crossed.

Major: Option 1: Computer Science, Option 2: Computer Engineering.
We know CS is a reach but hoping for the best. Georgia Tech CS is his first choice.
Good luck to everyone.
I feel like a big mistake people make when applying to college is assuming that you can not get hired in a job if it is not on point with your specific major. A lot of companies value internships over your major, while some are okay with majors that are remotely related(like interning at Meta with an electrical engineering degree.)
Curious, why would Meta hire EE intern where there are kids with solid CS background?
Meta does a lot more than CS/coding. They hire all sorts of engineers as well.
Daughter sent an email asking admissions if she can add Resume or case studies for CS major on the student portal under documents. The answer is a nice “No” from them
Thats not a bad thing, told my daughter she has to show her best in the options that she does have
They do have it on their website. Not sure why it is under contribution to community.
- You will need to take advantage of the application to provide us with information about the contributions you have made throughout high school, as we do not accept separate resumes.
Contribution to Community | Undergraduate Admission
Contributions = common app activities
If one has more than 10 activities, they can use addt’l information
