It is not common for anyone to get off the waitlist. Waitlist acceptance rate varies from 1 to 5 percent per year. There are over 4000 on the waitlist. I think most/all who have gotten off are out of state. At this point they may have all the in state slots full.
any idea if waitlist is closed already?
It is not closed. They will send notice to everyone who is on the waitlist when they close it.
Does anyone have any updates on the waitlist for In-state computer science students. Has anyone been taken off of it yet or will no one get off of it at this point.
Are folks still hearing of waitlist movement?
Per the admissions office. The waitlist is not closed there is still movement and kids being accepted in waves. They see who accepts off of a wave and then continue. They want to close it soon but feel it may be June. Looking at previous years acceptances have gone into June and even July. So as time goes on chances I guess get slimmer but until they let everyone know the waitlist is officially closed thereās still movement.
did everyone just get the email asking if ur still interested in being on the waitlist?
yes got the same email
does it mean anything or nah?
Nah.
They are just slimming the waitlist to increase yield.
got off for CS today (OOS)
daughter got off waitlist yesterday for BIO med, OOS as well, we donāt know what to do at this point. Anyone know what happen if we accept now , put deposit but later regret? we only gave 2 days to response
You are not supposed to put two deposits for 2 schools at this point. You need to deposit for school and dorm. If you will will break dorm contract you maybe on the hook for some amount⦠Read contract carefully.
If you will not deposit for dorm, you maybe without a dormā¦
u understand this is off waitlist after decison already all done. of course if i am inetested than the school that i am off waitlist, i will be putting deposit on 2 schools
The idea is that if you accept the waitlist offer and deposit at Ga Tech, you would withdraw from the school you initially deposited at (both enrollment and housing deposits, as applicable.)
I think OP mightāve meant they have had to put 2 deposits now since they already put a deposit for their original school, and they now also have to send a deposit for the new school since they want to go for it.
Same thing happened to me. Iāve put 2 deposits in even though Iāve already withdrawn from my original school; itās just that Ive lost my first deposit.
Yes, generally the first deposit is not refunded if one chooses another school.
What I mean that you canāt keep active spots at your current spot and Gatech. If you choose Gatech, you need yo withdraw your spot from another school.
There are possibilities of musical chairs through summer. However, I do not believe that there are many students that hop between several schools during summer due to waitlist spots suddenly available to them. Most schools close waitlists by the end of June.
Georgia Tech is ranked #4 in Engineering and #2 in Biomedical Eng. Also, your kid will get to enjoy the beautiful campus and weather of Atlanta most of the year. Atlanta is also becoming one of the largest Tech Hubs. I donāt think there will be regrets. Congrats!!
The weather is actually one major thing I am worrying, we are from snowy snowy north, I know Atlanta is humid and hot, I am a bit worry that my kid gonna melt
