Getting ahead of corequisites.

Is this bad to do? For example, for the astronomy physics major you take physics I-IV along with Calc I-IV and every semester an upper level math course is taken along with physics and astronomy that goes with it. What if you start at Calc III and Physics I? You would finish the math courses before the others which could cause problems. Also it’d be easy to forget some things and then the physics and astronomy could become harder. Opinions?

Uhh, no, it’s not a bad idea to finish things earlier. It’s always good to get ahead, assuming you’re willing to keep up with the work.

well if you start at Calc III it is assumed you have mastered the prerequisites so if you were to need specific techniques it should be easy for you to recall or to pick up.

It’s pretty standard, certainly for the e-school, that students will be “ahead” of the math course that corresponds to the semester they are in. So no it’s not at all a bad thing to do. If you feel like you aren’t ready to move into higher levels then you should go ahead and retake the courses.
