Getting F

Until the last year, I had maintained 4.4 GPA. To boost my GPA, this year I took five AP classes, including two online AP classes. At the end of the first quarter, I got 4.7 GPA; however, I noticed that I can’t finish one of my online AP classes until the end of the first semester due to lack of time. So, I’m most likely to get a F for that class, and my GPA will suffer serious decline. Needless to say, I cannot go to any school other than safety or even lower schools. Is there anyone who made this kind of mistake? How can I motivate myself in this situation?

I got an F in an Engineering my freshman year and I got a lot of D’s and C’s in my English and history classes. I applied to big schools like Harvard and Stanford anyways because my math and science is very strong and I have supplemental materials.

Nevertheless, I submitted a short statement about my grades in my common app supplemental writing. Because that was one F in one semester of engineering, everything else was a strong A. And English and history are my weakest humanities, but I did get an A in philosophy and psychology, and I like those subjects better. So I’m in a way making up for my grades.

I’ve yet to know how that turns out for Harvard and UT, but it sure worked for my safety school.

Isn’t there a way for you to drop the class?
Talk to your guidance counselor… it seems ridiculous that you’d be stuck with an F. Maybe try for some sort of extension?
