Getting into a top school is about passion, not grades or test scores.

I am admissions consultant. Which means I get paid to get students into harvard, stanford, wharton, berkeley, etc. The difference between me and most others is that I only target top 10 or top 20 schools.

The difference between getting into a top school and getting into a normal is school is about passion. Sure you need good grades and test scores. But everyone who applies has those already. What you really need is that crazy story that makes me go “wow” (I used to be an admission reader at Yale. I also went to Exeter, Stanford, and Yale.).

My job is to teach my clients passion. Most are too scared to really shine in any way. They are just playing games rather than trying to tell a story they really believe in. Most don’t even have that story. This makes them scared and boring. No body wants that type of person in their top school. They want the next Steve Jobs- a guy who oozed passion from every poor. They want the great concert pianist. They want the entrepreneur who doesn’t even want to go to college because he is pursuing his dreams.

Top schools like people who are in love with their lives and their passions, not overly competitive, sweaty nervous wrecks.

Find you passion. When your passion is greater than your desire for a name brand school you might actually get in.
