Getting into the heart of the mathter.

Hey all the IBers out there. Hows it going? I myself am enrolled in the IB diploma.
At the moment I am looking at:

A1 English Sl - 7
A1 Hindi Sl - 7
Chemistry Sl - 7
Economics Hl - 6
Further Mathematics Sl - 7
Mathematics Hl - 7
Physics Hl - 6

so a 40/42 (since FM does not count towards the final tally).
Would that be good enough to get into a good uni such as Cambridge in the UK, I want to study Math. I have decent extra-cirruculars as well, not outstanding but decent. But I do have a lot of academic awards and achievements outside school as well, such as graduate of Kumon Institute of Mathematics with gold and honours. Some sports and service credit but not too many. I am planning to use FM as an extra to maybe just swing the decision my way if its on the fence or something. So anyone have knowledge or experience on what I should expect If I apply?

Thanks.

OK, by your scores you have a chance at Cambridge. For Math, depending on which college you applied to at Cambridge, you might need to sit various tests, which will all be used as part of your application. An interview will also likely be necessary.

Also for Cambridge, the fact that you say you have “decent extra-cirruculars as well, not outstanding but decent” makes no difference - unlike US colleges, UK universities don’t care about ECs, other than the fact that they often accompany good academics.

Certainly however, include all your academic-related awards, and really try to convey your engagement and passion for mathematics on your UCAS personal statement.
