Getting out of the language requirement with an essay?

<p>I was talking to some people yesterday they said if I wrote an essay to the language department telling them that I’m fluent in another language, I could be exempt from my language requirement?</p>

<p>Does anyone know if that’s true?</p>

<p>But couldn’t hurt to ask – I would suggest contacting someone in the department for the language in which you are fluent. Most departments have a webpage that can steer you to the correct person.</p>
