'getting to know each other'...let's try again

d00d…yoo guys pwn…

ahem.

So which way do you guys lean politically? moohahahaa…bad question?

i’m a little left of ghandi…

haha. nice. I’m more of a bill clinton myself (he’s from my hometown!)…

I suppose I’m leaning towards the left…

I don’t think I would eat the moon, because I don’t really like ribs that much. However, if it was enchiladas… oh man. That poor moon never had a chance.

Speaking of enchiladas, how is the Mexican food up in MN?

johnny-
JOO pwn for talking in netspeak! And I must say, I lean a bit to the left.

yeah, does anyone know about mexican food in minnesota? quality mexican food is a necessity for my college experience.

and 1337 5p34k is so last year…

i lean to the left politically, although I’d say I have a pretty open mind.

As for the Mexican food in Minnesota…
In my area, it left much to be desired up until this year – we just opened an authentic mexican restaurant in town. And I don’t know that Northfield has many options for Mexican food (though they have some really nice Indian and Thai options), but you can always go to the Twin Cities for a Mexican food fix – there’s something for everyone in the cities if you know where to look. Uptown Minneapolis has more ethnic restaurants (I recommend Chino Latino). Downtown has pretty much everything; it’s just a different atmosphere from Uptown.

They have a Guatemalan restaurant downtown that has burritos and quesadillas. It is quite good. There is also another tex mex place.

Well I missed V1, but here goes.

Name/Nickname: Zach
Hometown: Short Hills, NJ…yea, it’s as bad a state as they say.
Stats: 2320 (720 W), 3.5ish UW, 4ish W National Merit, Presidential Scholar…a buncha APs.
Academic Interests: Pretty much anything, although I like Physics and Philosophy a lot.
Other interests/hobbies: Baseball, rock climbing, guitar, skiing, chillin out.
Favorites
Movie: I don’t even know if I have one…Fight Club, Donnie Darko, Anchorman, Ocean’s 11…a bunch others.
TV: Daily Show. And House. And sportscenter.
Book: Heh…Harry Potter rules. And moneyball.
Song: Right now it’s El Scorcho by Weezer, but it changes a lot.
Why Carleton? It’s an LAC not close to home, and it’s good. I haven’t gotten a chance to visit yet, but the Carleton people I know are good people. I’ll visit if I get in.
Why not Carleton? Cold? Although I like cold. I guess nobody from my HS is going anywhere nearby, which would be kinda depressing I guess.
If you were a food, what would you be? Pasta, because I want to be…doughy? Nah, I’d be an egg.

I like eggs. They’re extremely versatile. Though I do prefer them scrambled than hard-boiled or omellette-y styled.

O btw I meant scholar nominee, lol. No way in hell I’m actually winning. Just wanted to clear that up before anyone misread that.

And yea, not a big omellete fan. I like sunny side up. But I didn’t choose eggs cause they’re my favorite food, they’re just simple and cool. Idk.

eggs are a good choice- they can be so profound if one considers the chicken/egg debate:)

I myself am not an egg fan though…actually, i tend to take the pancake/cereal route when it comes to breakfast.

NJPitcher- congrats on the nomination!

i’m pretty much anti-breakfast food in general; i’ll always pick cold pizza in the morning over eggs. i am a granola fan though…

When I was little, I hated eggs, so my mom would put green food coloring in them to make me eat them. Kinda gross, in retrospect.

Perhaps she was channeling Dr. Seuss?

Green eggs I could eat, but never green ham.

Sam I am!

I love his book “Oh, the places you’ll go”. A class gave me a photocopy when I was leaving and wrote in it, decorating it with notes and pictures and sketches. sniffles I miss them.

i hate to break it to you but the best dr. suess book is easily the lorax. 2nd place goes to the one about how the u.s. and russia are going to blow up the world (the butter battle book?).

I have to second the Butter Battle as a Seuss masterpiece… I think my favorite day of history class ever was the day that my teacher sat down in his obnoxious armchair and had us gather at his feet to listen to the Butter Battle. He even held it up so we could see the pictures:)

Daughter has asked me to report that her favorites are Sneetches, Oh the Places You’ll Go, Horton Hears a Who, Green Eggs & Ham, the Grinch, and a few others, including Cat in the Hat (but only the parts about Thing One and Thing Two). As to favorite? She’s decided this is a harder decision than choosing a college.

My personal favorite is If I Ran the Zoo by Gerald McGrew.

oh my gosh… I LOVE the Lorax! I used to check out that book every time our class went to the library in elementary!!
