There have been a lot of relationship posts on CC lately, so I figured that there should be a thread where you can ask members of the opposite (or same, if so you want) questions about various things.

First question: maybe this is just a bad observation on my part, but why does it seem like guys usually go for the quiet, “normal” girls rather than for girls with weird and big personalities?

I also prefer girls that are a little more talkative, though not necessarily weird. I’m a little less talkative (not shy though, just not super talkative), so there would be a lot of awkward silence if I was into quiet girls.

I really don’t like these kinds of comparisons- like, there’s nothing that’s concrete in psychology that makes a boy and boy and a girl a girl. Also, this generalizes all people of one gender- some guys like girls with big personalities, some like anime fans, some like quite with a side of painted toenails. It’s about the individual not about the gender.

I don’t really think preferences can be rationally justified in any case…I mean, there are certain things we’re attracted to that make sense biologically, but other things seem arbitrary and depend on the person.
