Girls: Do You Watch It?

I do.

And that was my post.

I watch it.

No - I don’t.

I watch it. I didn’t “get” this week’s episode at all though.

I enjoy the show. Lena Dunham has a lot of issues that she gets criticized for but her show as a whole is really wonderful.

Tonight’s episode was purely a character story for Hannah. Found it oddly charming.

Nope. We don’t get HBO.

I didn’t get it, until I realized “Girls” is a show…

@spectastic:

I was confused too, at first.

Oh, god no.

Yes and, despite the fact that it makes me feel uncomfortable, I find I’m curious to see the next episode. It saddens
me to think my daughters could possibly live in that type of subculture.

Watch it, love it. It is what Sex and the City wasn’t.

Dittoing eastcoastcrazy.

collage1, you just described my feelings about this show to a T…

Is the show serious? Is it supposed to be satire?

Nope, I think it is unrealistically true! I can almost name my d’s college friends that are each character.

My daughter is 24 and lives in Brooklyn, so of course I watch it. She assures me that her life does not resemble that of any of the characters. (For one thing, she has a full-time professional job.)

While there are some things about the show that make me cringe, I do think it’s a very interesting take on that world, and some of the acting is wonderful. I’m particularly fond of Zosia Mamet.

I watch it. But I’m also a fan of Laura Dern’s character in Enlightened which airs in the same hour slot. Of Girls… I’m so glad not to be a twenty something in this day and age. My D who is exactly of the age, however, does not watch it. She didn’t like it.

Since we don’t have HBO, I watched the first few episodes when it came out on netflix. I had already seen Tiny Furniture. I think Lena Dunham is a hoot and definitely the voice of a generation and I love the riffing/homage/whatever – * Sex and the City*

Probably at some point I’ll watch all the rest of the series all at one time on netflix. It wasn’t so compelling I can’t wait :)

As the parent of two girls in their twenties, this show is wayyyy too depressing for me to watch…saw one episode and deleted the season pass…

I have friends who are parents of guys who keep asking me if I watch it…

And one of my friends whose daughter has the same boyfriend since high school…

I watch it. I think it’s a wonderful show that is well-written and beautifully acted. Yes, it makes me uncomfortable at times, but that’s what honest writing should do. Of course, not every young 20-something girl in NYC lives a life like Hannah, Marnie, Shoshana and Jessa but many actually do.

It was nice to see Lena enjoying boyfriend Jack Antonoff’s Grammy wins last night.
