Sorry…just couldn’t contain myself. What a nailbiter! But there it is…

UNC 79
Duke 73

UNC 79
Duke 73

ppppppbbbbbbbtttttttttthhhhhhhhhhhht!!! lol

Seriously, though, CONGRATS! I thought we were gonna do it…sigh

~berurah

Yes! Another Heels fan! If only I could mute Duke Vi–oops, Dick “i’m obnoxious and madly in love with Duke” Vitale but still listen to the other commentators.

Oh, no need to mute him! Lots to love about DUKE!!! ;)

I was very torn. Every time Duke made a shot, I thought “that’s good for UVA.” Every time UNC made a shot, I thought “YEEEEEEEESSSSSS!!!”

I suppose I should have been rooting for Duke, but a UNC victory was worth it just to see the look on the Ferret’s face ;-).

no bonfire at Duke this year…but Franklin street is rockin’

seriously, UNC played a great second half…however, I was proud of Duke’s rally for most of the game and thought they were playing great…so many on both teams are pretty green and still got their best games ahead of them.

Duke played hard the entire game–if only they’d made all of their free throws in the second half! S1 is very sad!! (We are too!) His big sister (at BC) is avoiding the temptation to trash talk–she was cheering for Duke tonight, too!

(B - For a while there, I thought y’all were gonna do it too! Was starting to worry our boys were as ‘fat and happy’ as Coach Roy claimed!
)

The big test is coming up though…VaTech in the Deandome on ldgirl’s birthday. I splurged and bought her a couple of Ram’s Club seats off Ebay, so she’ll get to see it in person. Crossing my fingers for the sweet revenge.

Tarhunt - LOL…he does look like ‘Frank Burns’ huh?

Seriously, it’s true…both UNC and Duke are incredibly young teams and both fought hard tonight. Duke deserves credit for stepping up and UNC for not folding at Cameron in front of all the Crazies.

The b-ball is only gonna get better at both schools in the next couple of years. (I’m so glad my d will be at UNC to see it.)

And let’s not forget to watch the ladies…#1 vs. #2 comin’ up!

Sorry, but just gotta point out that NCSU beat both Carolina and Va. Tech last week and lost to Ga Tech this week. Just goes to show it’s anybody’s game. No oddsmaker would have given NCSU a shot in those games but look what happened. Shows what can happen with 6 players and a lot of heart.

Let’s also remember that the Seminoles beat Duke at Duke this year. A first! :D

I was so proud of Carolina! Roy Williams was so humble on the news after the game, too (and it sure must be hard to be humble when you’re Roy!) :)

Packmom: We’re big NC State fans, too, and that was a great win for them on Saturday!

we prefer to call the ‘ferret’ “coach ratface” up in huskyland

The Philadelphia Inquirer had a full-court press on for this game, because of the local angle of Gerald Henderson vs. Wayne Ellington. It looks like Henderson won the battle but lost the war.

Middle son flew down from his school last weekend for the NC State v. Carolina game. He loves Carolina but went with all his buddies at State, they were the ones with big HUGE red letters painted on their chests, saw them all on tv. My mom calls from Florida then next morning with “Why was son#2 at the State game with an A on his chest???”

Kiddo missed the superbowl flying back out the next afternoon and his plane was delayed. Wasn’t too happy 'bout that! Oldest son went to the “other” game last night! Said it was great but the feel was different than the State game last weekend.

Kat

The Duke freshmen were awesome! A great sign for the future. ;)

Both teams are going to be scary good. UNC doesn’t quite seem to have it all together right at the moment, so the upside potential is … well … I was awfully happy to see Dean Smith retire and am hoping we won’t return to those days again.

But the REAL game is tonight (Thursday) at 7:00et: A fierce NCAA rivalry, two D-1 schools, both unbeaten this season. Ranked #1 and #2. Duke (23-0) vs. UNC (24-0). A sellout. This will be an incredible game.

GO NCAA WOMEN’S BASKETBALL!

i agree digmedia!!! though i’ll be rooting for the heels again, as i just cant bring myself to root for duke (except maybe if they were playing the lady vols…)

Ivory Latta is a little too dramatic for me.

Can’t WAIT for the ladies game tonight (6:00 p.m. CST)!! Go! Heels!

Also can’t believe the loss to State either. Hubby and I sat on the floor outside our son’s UIL competition last Saturday trading the XM/headset listening to what had to be the worst game ever. State deserved the win…as Coach Roy said… our boys ‘played with no passion’ that day. I think they may have been a little overconfident after the 100 points they racked up on Miami. Typical mistake for a young team. UNC is talented with a deep, deep bench; but they ARE really young (12 freshmen/sophomores and only 6 junior/seniors). If they are this good now, WAIT until next year…and the next!
The nice thing about that youthfulness is they don’t ‘jump off a building’ after a loss as Coach Roy has said. They are just like big happy puppies, they go right back at it!

I do love the demeanor of the Roy Williams and the team. They truly know how to behave and be good competitors. What a contrast to the coach (don’t remember which one) who was kicked out of the venue a few weeks ago. My husband (the sports nut) seems to think it was a deliberate strategy in an effort to rally his team, but I just saw bad manners. That’s how moms think I guess…they have ‘bad manner radar’.

Now the boys just need to show VaTech what they really have.
