Go! Heels!

Yep–that was good, 1sokkermom!!!

You know what’s gonna be reeeally interesting? My 8th grader (the little genius…jk!) wants to go to Duke! (smacking forehead!) I don’t think his sister will permit it though…lol!

LOL, ldmom! S1 said his brother could not even MENTION the idea of looking at UNC!! I wonder how the Paulus family is going to deal with Greg being at Duke and his younger brother being at UNC next year for football!!

I personally like the chant at the Duke/Maryland game – Maryland fans yell “Overrated!” Duke fans reply “Safety School”

Being a Maryland alumnus with my SS attending Duke in the fall, I 've been told to hide in my room this Sunday when they play each other!

Well…irish…at least they make bumperstickers for us should we end up in that boat. lol! But I predict ldgirl will have her younger brother under control by that time.

So Paulus, the younger, signed with UNC for football? UNC is really throwing a lot of money at the program…expensive new coaching staff included. (I suspect this is why our tuition bill is gonna take the big bump next year. )

proud - I love the Maryland campus…it’s so beautiful! ldgirl competed at NHD there a couple of years ago and I’m here to tell you…the field house is darned hot in the summer! (And one of her favorite T-shirts is her “Fear the Turtle” shirt…lol!)

Idmom:

Loved my years there. SS only applied as one of their safety schools. Talk about a slap in the face. I shouldn’t be too upset. They refused to apply to H’s alma mater, Rutgers.

Anyway, having a terrapin as a mascot is a little embarrassing. “Fear the Turtle” puts a smile on my face.

Ha! Sounds like our house…ldgirl was accepted at dh’s alma mater, Colorado School of Mines; but little did we know she never had any intention of enrolling. I think she did it to humor him…or possibly torture him…lol!

Terps play in Comcast Center now, not Cole Field House–so I imagine there is a/c. non-terps fans say “spear the turtle” and twerps! UMD is too close to our home for any of our kids to apply there!

Do they still hold the NHD awards ceremony in the field house? It was pretty nifty with The History Channel there filming the whole thing…but HOT…oh my. Our school sponsor nearly fainted. In Texas, we recondition that hot air! ;)

Hansbrough missing a clutch free throw in OT kept the heels from going to 2OT against VA Tech tonight. There were some questionable calls going both ways in that game…

D is excited that Game Day is at BC this Saturday! They would love to beat Carolina!

Very questionable calls irish…including the flagrant foul that should have had the VT player thrown out of the game and two incidences of goal-tending where the point were denied. Oh well…didn’t care for the result, but it was an EXCITING game! Well worth the $250 I paid for tickets for my d and a friend to attend.

And I was so proud of Hansbrough for not ‘crying into his towel’ after missing that first free throw and nailing the second. What pressure! And that last 3 pointer released a second too late would have changed the whole result! What a game!

Good luck on the ‘beating Carolina’ thing btw. The 'Heels tend to punish the next team in line after a loss.

(Tomorrow will be the one time I’ll be rooting for Duke  )

ldmom06~with S1 at Duke and D at BC you can only imagine how it will be around here. We told them we’d cheer for the home team–Duke won in Cameron, but I have to say that I’ll be much more torn about this game since it’s hard to cheer against either team–we love both teams!!

I know that Carolina will be “up” for the game Saturday, but so will the kids at BC, especially with game day there. D and I came down to see BC win at UNC last January (with our dukie S1) and had a great time! You know who I’ll be cheering for on Saturday night!!

Let’s go VT!!! What a good game. Love my Hokies! BC DD is getting ready for BC-Duke game tonight. Son is a Hoya. Lots of trash talking in our house this year. DH roots for all.

irish - Man…you MUST have it tough at home! lol! Everytime the 8th grader even mentions Duke…I mean just even a word about possibly attending one of the TIP programs AT Duke, it cause commotion here…lol! (But we are rooting for Duke tonight, tough as the odds are gonna be…)

DD just called–she’s so excited about the game tonight. She missed last year’s because she was studying abroad. She said this is the one she has been waiting for all year!! I’m a nervous wreck knowing how both she and S1 feel about their teams!

Dogwood~we have a nephew and a niece at Georgetown, just to complicate matters! And…we have season tickets for their games since we live nearby. The last 2 games were blowouts–can’t even imagine how WVU beat UCLA over the weekend. They looked like they weren’t even interested in playing against G’town!

Irish:
I spent last weekend with my nephew. He’s a senior at BC and very active in the pep band there. I have to admit it, I wouldn’t mind seeing BC win. :o

(Just can’t admit that to H or S !)

irishforever - We were at Saturday’s game against Marquette. What an awesome win for G-town. We will be back for the Pitt game in a few weeks. DS has his season tickets and gets to all the games. He is sad that he is a senior and this is his last year. G-town is definitely on an up note, while right now, BC looks pretty bad against Duke! It must be those crazy wigs the students are all wearing.

Dogwood~BC made an unbelievable run in the last 10 minutes, and I really thought they might get the W because Duke has given up some leads this year, and I was not sure if they had the confidence to pull it out. So, at least BC was not embarrassed, but I was so torn. I really wanted it to be close the entire game, and then have BC win at the end. They have not really gotten the respect that they deserve!! They lost by 14 at Duke, so this was good, but you don’t want to lose any conference games at home! For Duke this game was obviously crucial, and they clearly came to play. BC was the unlucky team to be on the court for their “must win” game.

The Marquette game at G’town was pretty great. We’ll see you at the Pitt game–that should be a good one. Our nephew is a senior & missed most of the basketball last year because he was abroad for the spring semester. He is loving the games, and definitely is sad to be on his way out–but is having a very fun year. We love having him close by, and see him often. He went down to Duke for the G’town game there before Christmas. Had a great time with S1 (who probably had a better time because Duke won) and thought Cameron was by far and away the greatest place he’d ever been for a basketball experience!!

Thank goodness!! Another close one for UNC (not exactly punishment though…lol!), and they really needed the win. I tried to watch, but found the whole thing nerve-wracking. My dh said both BC and Carolina played great games.
