Last I checked the cat was asleep on the dresser. She is shy and not the people person that the dog is.

But are you sure that she didn’t eat the candy? I can’t believe she let you dress her up like that!

Oh yeah…forgot one very non-PC costume. A haz-mat suit, with respirator. Ebola, anyone? We joked that his friend was welcome to get his candy for him. Too soon?

I successfully gave 2 big bags of candies tonight. I don’t have to beg my coworkers to eat left over candies next week. Lots of kids came. Last year less than 10 kids came.

We had a total of one group of kids. There were five of them. Used to have close to 100 when mine were that age. Granted it was cold and rainy but that’s usually the case in Michigan. We were wondering if it’s that fewer kids live in our subdivision now or that parents are more overprotective and either don’t think it’s safe to let kids out by themselves or don’t want their kids eating candy? Either way it’s sad. Mine trick or treated until early high school.

Returning large bag of unopened candy to the store today

How sad those 3 teenage girls in CA were killed while trick or treating.

Jym, I wish I had waited to open the large bag. Next year, I’ll just get 2 small bags.

What happened in CA? Missed that.

I almost, ALMOST opened this bag, but it was 8:30 when our stash was getting low so DH waited while the last kiddos came around, and we had enough. I fell asleep!

<a href=“Police Hunt for Driver Who Killed Three Trick-or-Treaters”>http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/three-trick-or-treaters-santa-ana-california-killed-driver-n238951 oh my- thats horrible. Hit and run and the car/van abandoned.Hope they find the driver soon and give them what they deserve… Twin sisters died immediately. How awful.

We had lots of parents. Most were dressed up as well.

But I don’t like it when cars pull up to trick or treat. Namely because they don’t always watch out for kids.
It’s already one of the three biggest days of the year for accidents.

Yesterday a 70 yr old went 70 mph ( down a city street), hitting cars along the way. Last count was 15, with 10 injuries.

I heard about the other accidents, so sad & unnecessary. They usually are impaired drivers.

We had a total of 7 kids, which is more than the 3 we had last year. What a change from when my kids were younger. I’m not sure we’ll bother next year after 2 poor years in a row.

We did end up having a bunch of kids show up last night. I think they all read my post and said, “That house. They still have gobs of candy!”

Very few, and then we went out. S was home but elected to do the porch lights out, hide in back routine. So much kit Kats and Reese’s! Why did I buy stuff I like???

We had fewer trick or treaters this year also. Our development is growing up, but there was a home football game that might have accounted for the lack of older kids knocking on the door.

Just returned the bag of candy. It was big and originally cost $14. Good thing I had the receipt, as it rang up today at a little over $6. Big markup on that stuff. But at least it’s out of the house.

When S was in Middle school he and a friend would hit up the drug store the day after any themed holiday to pick up candy at half price.

The cat looked and acted perfectly normal when she came in to read the paper this morning so I don’t think she took the candy. She has no friends, that I’m aware of, to have given it away to either. She used to have a boyfriend who lived down the street, but he now has a new live-in girlfriend so he doesn’t come around anymore. At any rate, it was carmel apple pops and twizzlers - no chocolate - so nothing that could potentially alleviate any lingering broken heart.

I always vacillate between wanting to by candy that I love so it won’t go to waste and candy that I hate so I won’t dip into it. I went with candy that I hate this year. DS loves carmel apple pops and was sad to see that there weren’t any leftovers.

We had the biggest crowd we’ve had in years.

My neighbor told me not one trick or treater came.

Apartment neighbors said lots of kids came.

Saw 2 groups of kids on my floor as I left around 7:30 pm to attend a Halloween costume/music party being thrown by friends out in Brooklyn. Enjoyed mingling and getting to chat with many new people, seeing old friends, having my fill of burgers/sausages/pumpkin beer, seeing many creative costumes, and seeing a few bands playing on the premises.

Weather did end up getting pretty chilly and wet at the end of the party around 4 am 40’s and rain.
