Gonna be a COLD Halloween

I need to get a costume together for her - we weren’t ready yet. I am thinking about flannel nighty and a kerchief to be the wolf from Little Red Riding Hood. The default will be wizard cape.

Trick or treating just ended in this Chicago suburb. We had at most 10 groups of trick or treaters, probably ¼ of what we usually get, or less. I had to firmly hang onto the screen door with one hand while holding the candy bowl with the other so the wind wouldn’t catch the door and fling the kids off the doorstep like a pinball flipper! Then I would go back to my office and hear the click-click-click of ice pellets hitting the window. Full-out snow this morning, stuck to the grass and rooftops. Definitely one of the most miserable Halloweens in a while. Next year I need to buy candy I DON’T like. Who wants to come over for some Kit Kats, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups and York Peppermint Patties?

Saintfan - google mutant giant spider dog prank. :)

Wizard it is! I found a great royal blue and silver prismatic wizard cloak with sleeves which she is used to on account of wearing her football jersey on Sundays. She is pleased as punch! Thank you dress up bin.

No rain, mid-50s here in Portland. It’s rained all week and this morning and more forecast for later this evening, but right now it’s good. We live in a destination neighborhood for trick or treaters–they come over here from other neighborhoods–so I’m expecting 50 to 75 kids. We turn off the lights when we run out…

Its gotten quiet now. Perfect timing, as we were just about to have to open this giant bag of candy. Hoping I’ll be able to return it.

We had three trick or treaters. Oh well.

I’m in BIG trouble. almost NO and I opened the 2 big bags. My g/f came for dinner, so I stuffed all the snickers in her bag, but so much left over! Why did I open the 2nd bag?

Not many trick or treaters roaming the street thus far. Surprising as we usually get quite a few here. It’s cold but not raining.

It was lucky if it was 40 degrees here. Windy. Wet and rainy. Bravo to the parents out - they were awesome - determined to make it fun! Had maybe 1/2 as many kids as normal. I had hot apple cider for any adult takers. Not spiked!

Plenty left - some Costco variety chocolate bag, some Annie’s Cheddar bunnies and some Mott"s Fruit snacks which actually tasted pretty good! My son is a teacher- maybe I will send the leftovers for the kids or the staff at his school!!

It rained just a few minutes ago so it may rain again tonite. Oh well, am not a fan of older teens being dropped off in our neighborhood, but it happens. I like seeing wee neighbor kids.

D1 and her bf were on door duty. It’s 10 here and I went down to check on them (in front of the tv now, surrounded by wrappers.) They kept asking me to bring over the big bowl of candy- and I kept saying no. (It does include Whoppers, if someone wants some.) Earlier an argument abut the fact I bought Raisinets. I figured, WTH. She thought it would be humiliating to be the house with those, went out and got other things.

It’s not too cold here, 68 degree outside. The kids are piling in and one ran inside my house, a little ladybug, touch my ceramics and then ran back out.

Not a single trick-or-treater.

We have an ungodly amount of candy. My students are going to be so happy with me next week LOL

I still have half the 150 pieces I bought from Costco.

Did you eat the other 75, or did you have trick or treaters?

Not a one for us, and I didn’t buy any candy, either.

But I do have some kale leafs in my refrigerator. Give the kiddies one of those, and they are NEVER coming back.

The other 75 is for the trick or treaters, really lots of cute little kids. Not too many teenager compare to previous residence. I only had one peanut M&M. Interesting how this year there are small as in only 4 pieces in the bag. Good for those who are calories conscious. I’m going to bring the rest to work Monday.

We had to go to the last HS football game of the season - marching band senior night and our official last football game after 7 years of kids in marching band. Woot woot! The rain stopped and held off until 1:30 to go in the 4th quarter. Now it’s pouring again. The dog stayed back to answer the door and hand out candy. The bowl was empty when we got home. I’m not sure how many trick-or-treaters that represents. It could be 1 or many :P

Good one, saintfan! Are you sure it wasn’t the cat? This rain really stinks.

Still drizzly here and windy but warm. We just got back from going out to dinner. Not a trick or treater yet, but hearing some noise outside. It’s only 7:34pm. H wants to turn off the lights when our favorite TV show starts at 8pm, so we will see. Maybe we’ll put a little candy out on a stump and let folks help themselves. It is one of only two TV shows we like and most of neighbors’ homes are not lit so don’t know that we’ll have many visitors anyway.
