I remember that well. I was “Eagan” then and that was our oldest’s first Halloween. My husband still took our cute little pea pod out trick or treating.

88 and sunny in Scottsdale right now. We’re hosting a a driveway party tonight. All the neighbors put signs on their houses pointing to ours. Adults sit in camp chairs in a semi-circle around the chiminea enjoying adult beverages and pass out candy to the neighborhood kiddos who get a pretty good haul in one stop. Hubby hands out beer-on-tap to those unfortunate parents who still have children to accompany. We make more friends this time of year…

It’s been ranging between 80 and 90 most days here in Honolulu. Sure wish you could send us some of the cold–TIRED of this unrelenting heat!

It’s 49 degrees here…but I think our seven trick or treaters will show up!

I wish they’d show up. I am eating all the candy!

The neighborhood has a party from 4:30-6:30. I’ll bet they’ll freeze and go home.

Just had our 1st trick or treater. Sun hasn’t set yet, it’s 74degrees, just beautiful. I remember cold, wet and snowy Halloween’s at home in CT. I always made either stew or chicken soup. Sometimes I gave some cups to moms or dads who looked pretty cold!

One of the first kids to my house was dressed as a “nerd”. He had on suspenders and a bow tie, and thick black glasses. Oy ve. As a parent of a true nerd, I could not believe his parents thought that was how a nerd dresses! Maybe 40 years ago…

We used to hand out an occasional beer to the dads. We don’t drink beer, so are happy to give it away if its in the house.

I’m putting on a vampire’s cape and coming trick or treating at your house…

52 degrees here north of NYC, really not such a great night. We have usually been getting ZERO trick or treaters but DH persuaded me to have some candy on hand just in case, so I went running out to get a bag of candy around 4 p.m. I got back just in time to see 3 costumed kids walking out of my driveway so I flagged them down and gave them candy. I still doubt that we will get any other kids. My street is being dug up to have a new gas line put in and the street is lined with huge machinery, piles of dirt, heavy metal plates and has no lights. I would never let my kids trick or treat here!

Usually it rains for Halloween but so far, skies look clear and gorgeous! We have no idea how many trick or treaters we may get, as we are often out of town for the event. This year, we opted not to go to my conference and stayed home. I think we may not get much traffic, since we live on a quiet side street and not many tykes in our neighborhood. I have candy and some McDonald’s coupons for anyone who wants them. :)

Our trick or treat night was last night, like in many Iowa towns. Also, a tradition in central Iowa is that the kids need to do a trick in order to get a treat. That usually takes the form of telling a joke, though one may occasionally see a cartwheel or something.

S’16 is volunteering at an outdoor family Halloween night tonight, he is directing traffic. I hope he will be warm enough. It is in the low 40’s and windy.

I’m heading over @ChoatieMom! Save a chair for me.

The torrential rain has stopped, thankfully.

Just had our first group. Cute little kiddies!!

It is fifty degrees here in Eastern PA…chilly but not too cold. The forecasted rain will hold off until after the kids are all home. I have had about twenty kids thus far, all of whom were under ten. Very, very cute kids. I haven’t had any teenagers for the past few years, though when my daughter was in high school (she just turned 30) she would go out and we would get quite a few older trick or treaters.

@saintfan and GMT: Drop on by, but we still have another hour before dusk. I don’t drink beer, so the kegs are safe, but that candy bowl is looking a little low…

Under 40 and windy in Chicagoland - we got less than one-third our usual amount of trick-or-treaters and I have no idea what their costumes were under the heavy winter coats. Maybe I should go over to the Weight Loss for Dummies thread to discuss what to do with the leftover candy - but with DS still boomeranging with us, it’s probably not going to be a problem!

No trick or treaters yet, but hmm, what has happened to those little packets of Whoppers? I see quite a few wrappers in the trash. And no one is home but me.

I had just gotten the candy ready when we had our first group of cute little tricker treaters! The dog was soooo excited.
