I will be entering my sophomore year of HS and would like to major in something related to political science, and these are the classes I’m going to take: (from most looking forward to, to least likely looking forward to)
Business Law (really looking foward to this class)
AP Composition and Language
Chemistry Honors
Geometry Honors
PE II (semester) - study hall (semester)
APUSH
Is it common for sophomores at your school to take APUSH and Lang? Those are junior classes at my school. Also, do you have any foreign language? I would think that would be particularly important in a political field, and colleges generally would like to see 2-3 years of it.
This is a strong schedule, for sure, but I would recommend as @Shanban1607 said, adding a foreign language. Also, APUSH is a fun class (at least it was for me), so try not to dread it- if you want tips or advice for APUSH feel free to message me!
@Shanban1607 and @yonceonhismouth I am hoping to take Spanish 3 Honors, but my guidance counselor said the course was full and not able to fit me in, so she wrote me on the list if someone were to drop the course.
You’ll need level 4 in a foreign language, preferably.
Apush and AP Lang would likely be difficult for. Sophomore - is that standard at your school for top 25%students?
As said, a foreign language would be preferred, but if you can try to take Spanish 3 next year and 4 senior year that would probably be okay. Have you considered taking AP US Gov sophomore year and APUSH as a junior, in my school APUSH is for juniors. What other social studies classes are you taking during high school?
