Goodbye Tom. I really miss Click and Clack/Cartalk

Anyone else love Tom and Ray (Click and Clack)'s Car Talk? Its been in reruns for 2 years, but today older brother Tom passed away at 77 from complications of Alzheimer’s. We will miss you. Love that show… and the other PBS clever, witty banter-- “Wait, Wait Don’t Tell me”. Have been to 2 live tapings. Clever stuff. Love quick wit.

How sad. They were amusing and sharp who’d have thought of making an amusing radio show and website about car problems. Never knew he had Alzheimer’s. Guess few are immune.

This news shocked me more than the death of Robin Williams. He seemed his usual witty self 2 years ago, I didn’t realize Alzheimer’s could kill so quickly. The re-runs will be so sad now knowing he’s not around to give his brother a hard time.

Oh that is sad.
One of my favorites.

I had no idea what was going on! So so sad. Count me in as one of their fans.

Oh no! I love these guys! I don’t know how anyone could hear these guys laugh and not laugh along with them!

I often wondered about the callers, and how they would mimic the sounds. I did not realize the show was in reruns. Sad.

I listened to him for a long time, possibly two decades. What a loss! Alzheimer’s is cruel. In our family it has killed in as short as two years and as long as ten-- and many between. Tough disease.

Also very sad/shocked to hear this news, the show is truly one of a kind. Cannot think of any other call in show that could make it in reruns two years after they stopped taping.

So witty, and also so helpful. Such sad news…and so young.

I was shocked that he could go from being able to showcase his wit on the radio to dying of complications of Alzheimers in two years. I loved their show, even though I have no interest in cars. RIP, Tom.

Don’t drive like his brother.

Great pair and Tom will be missed. I could listen to them talk about a 12 year old car we never owned, while they simultaneously settling marital disputes anytime. RIP, Tom.

I have no idea of how cars work beyond turning the key and putting gas in from time to time. However, there have been many Saturday mornings when I would hit the road to Nashville to visit one or both of my kids and I would be delighted to spend an hour with Click and Clack on NPR. Very sad to hear this news.

They were my favorites - sometimes I’d laugh so hard I’d cry. RIP Tom - you will be missed.

Another fan here. Fond memories. Still hear the re-runs. May he RIP.

I had no idea at all that they were in reruns. I heard this on NPR this afternoon and am completely shocked. How very sad.

I have laughed so hard at their show I’ve missed my exit. I was shocked that Tom went so quickly - probably a blessing though.

Another fan who will miss his banter with his brother… great show! Did anyone catch their (animated) cameo in the movie Cars?

Hard to imagine one with out the other, must be devastating for Ray and the rest of their family. I actually liked their relationship advice at least as much as their car advice! And… don’t drive like my brudder!

I feel like I have lost a real-life friend. Those guys were genius together…MIT grads hosting a call-in radio show that I caught for the first time late one night driving cross-country about 20 years ago. Nearly drove into a ditch laughing so hard. Just kinda-sorta about cars but mostly about life.

Rest in Peace, Tom. You will be missed.
