Hey y’all. So, I live in Canada, and got the supplemental email in early December. It also encouraged me to apply for the Bold internship in Toronto, which I did. But since then, I’ve heard nothing. Not a peep, for THREE MONTHS! :(( At this point, do I contact the recruiter, or do I just wait it out? I have other offers but I want this internship badly. But I don’t wanna wait until April to get full-on rejected, after letting go of my other offers. If anyone (esp non-Americans) has any updates, that would be great.
P.S. This is such a great community. Love that I found this.
I just interviewed with them. It was a cool experience, they made me feel engaged with them. They asked me a lot of behavioral questions than anything else. My first interviewer was cool, like not too hyped up but calmer when spoke. My second interviewer was awesome. I found out through him that he is part of the google assistance team, so most of his questions rotated around that product. Very cool open guy to speak with he mentioned to me at the end, if I make it into google then he would love to connect with me and show me around. I was asked a lot about launch campaigns which I don’t think I did too good on that but I’ll just try not to think about my interview anymore and just let the results come whenever. Hopefully, things go good from here for me. I’ll keep you guys posted.
@infinitesweet I’m feeling the same. But apparently Google does interview through April, so I’m keeping my hopes up. Just gonna leave this on the backburner at this point and apply to other opportunities and whatever happens, happens.
@zebrabw Someone on here interviewed for Google CA if I remember correctly. Go back to around late Dec, early Jan in this thread, it’s probably somewhere around there. Maybe try reaching out to them to see if they got any advice for ya.
@csochoa Hey congrats, sound like your interviews went well! I’m curious though, what position within marketing was this for specifically (because from the launch campaigns stuff, sounds like event or product marketing/sales to me).
Just wanted to let you know I received a rejection email from Google today (for marketing role). I feel devastated especially because I did not even get a chance to interview and I feel like I was judged only on paper, but I just wanted to say thank you to everyone on this forum for all the motivation and encouragement throughout this long and painful process.
For everyone who is still in the loop, I wish you guys the best of luck!!
@BladeHunter hey! Thank you I feel like it went okay lol yeah so I believe it was product marketing and for the google assistance team. I think each interviewer represented a different team and not the same. Their questions were different and more focus to the team they are part of. I thought that maybe they were both from the same team but it looks like they were from different teams. So maybe my resume was viewed by both teams? I hope I did good
@jsp283 Sorry to hear! But hey, look at it on the bright side, you can finally move on and pursue other opportunities for this summer without having Google in the back of your mind anymore. As for me, I haven’t heard anything back yet at all (not even the hang tights for over a month and a half now), so I’m still in limbo land.
@csochoa That’s actually possible. There are plenty of cases where different teams will need essentially the same intern role filled. Regardless, no point in worrying about it now, so good luck and hope you hear back from them soon.
@BladeHunter that’s true thanks for clarifying that for me. Now I wonder they send rejection emails faster than offer emails to go to onsite interviews. I’m hoping not to hear back from them for another week lol
@csochoa Unless, you live within driving distance of the Google office you’re applying for, I wouldn’t worry about onsite interviews. I haven’t seen any BOLD interns (both in previous years nor this year) who have had onsite interviews for the internship. Also, I didn’t know that they tend to reject people sooner than they give out offers. In that case, I hope you don’t hear from them for a while (but not too long) lol.
@BladeHunter oh wait?! That’s how I thought the process was. That they fly you out and cover the expenses when your last interview onsite. Because for what I have read on the web after your phone interviews, comes the onsite interview and if you pass that one then you get it. I live in DC for now. Yeah I also read somewhere that people who get rejected get their emails very soon. But those that are highly consider takes sometime. Ugh honestly I been trying to not think about it but everyday I’m looking at my inbox lol yeah I hope they take a while but too long either ahha
I’ve gotten 4 ‘hang in’ emails after I filled out the supplemental form in November. I always assumed I’d get a rejection before valentines day so I’m really out on a limb here waiting for more. Anyone else trying to keep their expectations measured?
@BladeHunter or anyone. After you interviewed with them through google hangouts, how long did it take for you to receive an email from them with the offer or rejection email?
Thank you guys
@csochoa I just accepted my offer from Google. The timeline for hearing back from interviews can vary, from one week to eight weeks. Like I mentioned in my post way above, I interviewed for one team and had to wait four weeks, only to hear that I was rejected.
But, then I interviewed with a new team and my recruiter tried hard to expedite the process, in which I heard back two weeks after the interviews.
I know this answer my not be the one you want, but it takes A WHILE to hear back, unfortunately. Try to take your mind off of it by going to the gym, hanging out with friends/close ones and going on spring break. Ease your mind, you got this!
