And we’re supposed to get a few more inches of snow too. Then Tuesday night into Wednesday, 5-8 inches of snow. So if it is warmer, it is snowing. The rest of the time, it’s frigid. So over this winter.

Way to ruin my happiness :p

I just saw a Weather Channel report that I don’t even want to believe. It is saying we could get 12-18 inches from the Tuesday/Wednesday storm.

Wait, what?? That must be a mistake. Actually…it sounds like just another day of this interminable winter.

New Englander here. We have had cold weather…but precious little snow where I am. In fact…there is only an inch or two on the ground…and it will all melt tomorrow when it is sunny and 40. I’m ready for spring…because of,the bitter cold. But I’d like to actually SEE a good snowfall here! They have all, either gone south or north of us.

UGH. I don’t see snow next week but TOMORROW it looks like it’s going to be a mess- snow, sleet, freezing rain, rain. Looks like I’m hunkering down for the weekend.

I don’t know if Weather Channel links are allowed here, but if not, my apologies. http://www.weather.com/video/snowstorm-for-next-week-43941? It’s a link to a video called Snowstorm for Next Week on their website. It shows a large area with a 12-18 inch possible snowfall. Ugh. Tomorrow is going to be messy too. I grocery shopped tonight. I don’t have to leave the house for a week if I don’t want to I guess. I feel like my work has been very lenient but I don’t know how long that will continue. I don’t want to push the boundaries too far.

Gross.

But today, it’s warm and toasty out there!

It’s raining ice here. We are to get the big snow next week. They came and filled my propane tank yesterday. I had it contracted for $1.45. Nope, the company is just breaking the contracts. $5 a #$# gallon. What miffs me even further is they didn’t even notify us they were doing this and ask if and how much we wanted. I am crawling in a hole and coming out in May!!

^^^Can they do that??

If you have a contract, I don’t know how they can do that. I do know a lot of states are having propane shortages. How awful to hold people hostage like that.

We were expecting snow throughout the day but it looks like it might be done (so romani, there’s hope for you!). So far we only have about 2 new inches.

Stayed home and missed a class I wanted to take as it was snowing pretty hard. I don’t mind winter (really, I don’t!) but I confess, I am tired of being shut in. I may try to slog around the neighborhood today with the dog but I hate trudging around in snow boots. Sorry, I just needed to whine.

I also feel like they legally cannot break a contract. Ours is pretty simple “We will sell at a lock-in price of no higher than x between this date and that date.” I have read several stories where bigger companies have very lengthy contracts with some itsy bitsy clause that they can break it at will for several things including “acts of God” and this is supposedly that. Um, no…it was started by massive exporting in September, followed by scheduling a major repair on a large distribution place in Dec., following by extreme cold.

Further discussions with our company reveal he wasn’t contracting on his end last summer for the amount he would need. He is buying it all on the spot market! As a CPA I think this is a huge, unnecessary risk on his end…but I guess it doesn’t hurt him too much if he takes the gains when they are there and pushes the cost through when they aren’t! We’ve been with him 15 years but probably not after this.

I have to be careful because if I don’t pay I won’t be able to get the next fill I need in a couple of weeks. No one here is taking new customers. My son, who didn’t have a lock-in and has been with another company only 2 months, got filled yesterday for $4.06. So we’re doubly miffed our guy charged 20% more when we DID have the lock-in. Grrr, this too shall pass…I hope :)

sryrstress, you have to pay him now because you have to get the propane, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get a nice lawyer to the propane guy to write a nice letter for you later.

Also suppose to get a big storm sometime in the middle of the week but the weekend in the NE is looking good. I’m headed to Florida - as my dad had something, perhaps a stroke, this morning, and is now in the hospital. I am flying down to be with my mother and keep her company. It can’t be too serious as they are only keeping him tonight and possibly tomorrow night to run some tests. At least the weather will be better there so looking at this as glass half full.

It is so balmy here (relatively speaking) that my husband is taking his first bike ride of 2014. I think he is NUTS!

I’ve never seen “balmy” used so many times in a thread.

I guess it’s balmy here in Florida, too. A nice 76. Much better than yesterday’s high 40s with rain.

emilybee, good luck with your dad. I hope it’s only mild and that he fully recovers.

Thanks VH! Prognosis looks good so far. They were getting up this morning to fly up north this morning for their great grandson’s Bris on Monday, but at least it happened before they got on the plane! My mom is so disappointed they cannot come up to see new baby, but it is what it is. My sister and I share who does down in a crisis but it’s her daughter that had the baby so I have to go. Not good timing as my H is in the city for the Superbowl (he’s with NYS Homeland Security, not there to enjoy the game,) but he is coming home this afternoon because we have two dogs that will need tending too (one who cannot be boarded at all.) and I have booked flight for first thing tomorrow morning.
