Where should I be if I want to get in?

Since I’m not part of the admissions committee at Rutgers (just a mere soon-to-be first year), I can’t give a definite answers.

What I will say though is perhaps, in terms of GPA, try to get at least a 3.5. Make sure that you are taking some honors and/or AP classes. And, in terms of SATs, maybe you should try to get at least between a 500-600 on each section.

There are students who get in with lower GPAs or lower SATs. You never know. Just do your best, apply, and wait for the best :)

Are you applying to the School of Arts and Sciences?

I dont even know

???

There is the “School of Environmental and Biological Sciences” ; “Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy” ; “Mason Gross School of the Arts” (Music, theatre, etc); “School of Engineering”; etc.

The **School of Arts and Sciences **is the basic liberal arts college. Most students apply to this one. Schools like the engineering and the pharmacy are often competitive to get into.

Most likely you want to apply to the School of Arts and Sciences.

ya, that school.

Do you need around a 2000 SAT to get into New Bru

I don’t think you need a 2000 SAT to get in, but it could really boost your chances considering you are an out-of-stater.

Since Rutgers is a state school, people in New Jersey have a better chance of getting into Rutgers, more specifically the School of Arts and Sciences. For out-of-state students, it might be a bit difficult if you have a low GPA/SAT.

I would say a decent score would be like around a 1700 or above (CR + M + Wr) - considering you score a 500 or above on each of the three sections. Anything higher is better. Yet again, students can be accepted with a lower SAT score. A good GPA and challenging courseload (Honors/AP classes) increases your chance also.

I hope that helps a bit.

Rutgers NB is a joke to get into. They accept almost anyone. I know peopl with 1500/2400 that get into rutgers. They dont even have an admissions committee or something. Everything is by the computer.

^ are you serious? do they take uw or w GPA? because my school only shows me my w GPA, which is 3.925.

Eh…I never heard of the “computer” thing, but whatever.

Yes, people with 1500 SAT scores do get accepted – mostly instate students.

In terms of it being a joke to get into: Eh…sometimes it does seem like they accept just about anybody (of course not EVERYBODY considering the 56% acceptance rate). Heck, this one kid who just graduated with me from high school is attending Rutgers, simply because he was recruited for the football team. I have no idea what his GPA was in high school, but considering that he used to cut class a lot and received a lot of Cs and Ds on assignments, my guess is that he got lucky. Or perhaps the high school football coach had a big say with the kid’s grades.

And to psp-fifa-fan, I believe they take your weighted GPA, since – if I remember clearly – the application online asked ONLY for the weighted GPA. And your GPA is pretty good, so don’t worry :)

whats the best rutgrs

HopefulCEO I’m assuming that you are asking which campus is the best among Newark, New Brunswick, and Camden. Hands down, the New Brunswick campus is the best, and basically the main campus. But Newark is good too. Camden…don’t know so much about it.

But my ACT score is pretty low…22…sadly

The average V+M for RU NB is right around 1200. Has been for years.

do they accept ACT scores?

Rutgers accepts ACT scores, but you’ll need to do better than 22 if you want to have a decent chance.

Would a 1730/2400 and a 3.4 gpa ( no honors/AP’s) be good enough to be accepted. Also Im in state.

what ACT score should i raise up to in order to get in with 3.925 GPA? will 24-25 be good enough?

To answer both of you, I think both of you are all set. Dan, since you’re in-state, that sounds like a shoe-in. PSP, a 3.95 GPA for NB with pretty much any ACT score above a 22 sounds like a shoe-in, too.

but i am out-of-state.

that’s okay, unless you’re applying to a really competitive program, a 3.95 and a 25 should definitely get you in
