GPA cutoffs

Rising senior. I’m estimating around a 3.75ish GPA uw at a super competitive high school with a consistent upward trend, but I want to apply for a bachelor in science, so the cutoff is 3.8. Does that 100% mean I don’t even meet the bare minimum GPA, or is a 3.75 close enough?

What is your unweighted GPA separately for each year of high school?

McGill will not care about your freshman year grades.

I don’t know what GPA McGill uses to determine the cutoff, but S24 got into both Science and Inter Faculty (Art&Science) with a 3.5 UW GPA (3.8 in junior year)

3.5 uw 10th, around 3.9 11th, and estimating around 3.9 next year. should I just apply for a different major ?

I think that you should apply for the major that you want. I would not call it a safety, but it is definitely IMHO worth an application.

It was many, many years ago when I applied to McGill as an in-province student. However, I did see some (academically strong) students get their acceptance early, and some other students (who were closer to the cutoff) get asked for mid-term grades their senior year and get their acceptances later. I think that it would be a good plan to keep your grades up senior year and be aware that there is a wide range in terms of when you might hear back.
