GPA on high school transcript

On the collegeboard website, it says that 89% of accepted students at UVA had a GPA of 3.75 or higher. I am assuming this figure includes weighted GPAs. At the info session we attended, I believe I recall them saying that they do not recalculate the GPA, just use whatever is on the transcript. So if the high school transcript lists both weighted and unweighted GPA, does UVA use the weighted or higher GPA. Thanks!

That's a good question! I looked on UVa CDS - C. First-time, First-year Admission but it does not say which they use. I would assume the higher one to boost statistics but it would be nice for DeanJ to answer this!

Thanks Hazelorb! I also looked on the UVA website as well as DeanJ's blog and couldn't find the answer. I guess I will give the admissions office a call.

I've covered this one in the past. We use whatever we are given. We do not recalculate GPAs.

Regardless of what we are given, we look at the methodology used to calculate the GPA, which is included in the high school profile (weights used, what courses are included in the calculation, etc.).

But what if you are given BOTH for the same student? is the question
Then which would be included in your calculations (not which would be used for admissions)
