Grad. Stools for Top 20?

Yeah, just like the title says, anyone know any schools that offer graduation stools for being in the Top 20 or Top 25? A friend was asking me about it since our school doesn’t have something like that and I thought I’ll ask here.

My school does it by GPA rather than rank.

For example I’ll probably get gold stools since I’m graduating with High Honors (GPA of 3.5-3.9)

That’s pretty cool. I wish my school did something like that…the only people that get stools are BETA Club and JROTC. We have honor cords, but that’s for anyone who has a 3.5 or higher. It’ll be nice to have a stool for maintaining a 4.0 GPA throughout highschool.

See, our school colors are blue & gold and if you’ve had a 4.0 all 4 years you get a gold robe instead of the regular blue one.

That’s pretty sweet! Do you go to a private school or something?

I want to go to my principal and ask if our school can have stools for us 4.0 GPA (or Top 20) kids but I don’t know how to go about doing that… any suggestions?

No, I go to a very large public school. I have 840 students in my graduating class. ^_^

I’d get a list of kids who want the same thing first, so that the principal knows you’re not alone in wanting that.

That’s a great idea! Thanks!

Stools is the funniest word for that. I first thought of something else when I saw that word.

Haha, yeeeah. I call them sashes because when I tell people about stools, they think of something else. So I’m like, “Ok, fine. Sashes then.”

Wait, STUPID question, but what are stools? I’m assuming you don’t mean like, a stool with legs that you sit on…? We have cords, one for national honor society and one for top decile.

Stools are the things you where around your neck with a robe and they’re broad.

I don’t know now…They’re changing the graduation ceremony starting this year - no val/sal. Just cum laude, suma cum laude, and magna cum laude. The only embellishments on robes in the past have been academic medals (if you got an academic subject award senior year), the 3.75+ big medal for maintaining that GPA every semester, and honor cords for NHS. That’s it. (And the val/sal had val/sal stools and medals and they sat on the stage…pretty neat, but that sucks we won’t have that anymore).

At my school you get a stool if you get summa, magna, or cum laude. Are colors are black and gold, and the robes are gold. So if you make one of those you get a black stool with gold letters saying which one you made.
