Graded Essay sample

My D is taking care of all the application process except the Parent Statement, so it’s not of my concern. However, I am little confused about how exactly should the Graded Essay sample be written. Should the essay be done during school class? My daughter finally got one, done very quickly in the middle of her class. I am afraid that hers would look comparably filthy, if other applicants spend enough time to elaborate before graded and corrected. My daughter is very firm about it, saying " It is supposed to be done during the class and the teacher gives us 15 to 20 minutes to finish it.". Please assure me about this :)

Many schools ask how much time the student had to work on the essay, so they will know that your daughter’s essay was done in class, in only 20 minutes. If the school’s she’s applying to do not ask this question, then attach a cover sheet to the essay anyway, explaining the assignment topic, saying that it was done in class, and telling how much time she had to do it.

Remember, though, that for many schools, the only requirement is that it be a graded essay from a CURRENT class - it doesn’t have to be English. So if she has a history paper (for example) that she worked on for several days and got a good grade on, she might be able to submit that instead. Ask her to take another look at the requirements for the schools she’s applying to.
