If I got kinda bad grades in 9th grade, but then got straight A’s in 10th grade with 2 weighted classes and straight A’s in 11th grade with 6 weighted classes ( AP’s) and get stellar EC’s, like EC’s on level with usual Ivy League students, will they overlook my freshman grades? Could it hinder me, or will it look good that I improved. I know UC’s only care about grades in 10th-11th grade but what about Ivy’s??
What matters is the improvement. “Kinda bad grades” won’t look great, but ultimately shouldn’t do you too much harm. Additionally, the admissions process is holistic, meaning that your grades play only a minor part in determining whether or not you are accepted.
