Grammys 2024

I’m recording and it started at 8pm but sure is looking like a good show even for us older people - lol

Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, among others to sing! And Joni Mitchell!

Also I love that Miley Cyrus is in awe of Mariah Carey

They said the in memoriam was going to take 16 minutes😢

Cried at the fabulous Fast Car performance and LOVED Miley’s performance. Digging the Barbarella hair,

Oh, and Lainey Wilson’s album of the year was a great choice. In case @abasket was wondering.

Sorry but that was really tacky of Taylor Swift to hawk her new album in her acceptance speech. Chrissy Tiegen’s face said it all

I agree. I like her, but that was really unnecessary. It was kind of…meta.

She should have complimented the other nominees, thanked some people, dropped an easter egg, then quietly changed the cover photo back stage. She would have gotten plenty of coverage and engagement without the weird speech announcement.

I liked Fantasia’s rendition of Rolling and tribute to Tina Turner, but that outfit was unflattering and she seemed a tad uncomfortable in it.

She can sing, though! In 2010 or so, my coworker won a lunch with Fantasia, who was at a relatively low point in her career. My coworker had difficulty finding enough people to come to the lunch. I am really impressed that Fantasia kept plugging away, and now she’s doing really well.

By the way, Jay-Z’s speech was his usual whining. For a guy whose career involves communicating, he doesn’t seem particularly skilled at effective communication.

She was unbelievable. I was so moved.

Raise your hand if you sang along with Joni Mitchell (and cried a little at the end) :raising_hand_woman:t2:

Fantasia has really come a long way, from struggling single parent on American Idol, to
Broadway, movies and the Grammys

I missed like the first hour. But my daughters favorite group boygenius won a few Grammys but they showed them for like 2secs… They don’t show like rock or alternative music groups anymore. Let’s see what Billy Joel does

boygenius is really, really good. Unfortunately, they don’t fit the sexy narrative that makes women tv marketable (billie eilish gets away with it because it’s her brand). I have a lot of respect for them for staying true to themselves.

I’m a big fan of boygenius myself so was sorry not to see more of them. Alternative never gets much attention at the Grammies.

But overall i am loving this show.

Wondering how many of the outfits @JustaMom ’s daughter may have designed!

It’s Ladies Night. Got no problem with anything they are doing.

I don’t get Jay Z. Yeah, Beyonce has been robbed in the past. We KNOW. Why was Blue up there? His part was the only thing I haven’t loved.
