Granted Asylum, TOEFL Needed Anymore?

Hi.
I’m a junior in high school. We have a pending asylum application. Decision will be made around this June.
I found that when I grant asylum, I move from international student/applicant to domestic student/applicant.
When I grant asylum and be considered as a domestic student, will I need to take TOEFL?

Each college and university that you apply to will have the information about who needs to take the TOEFL or another English proficiency exam right on its website. There is no way to predict this. Usually you need to have been in schools where all of the classes were taught in English for a certain number of years in order to not need the TOEFL.

Good luck with the asylum application!

TOEFL requirements can help demonstrate ESL/ell status and as such aren’t a negative.
However you’d have to ask each university whether you need to take the TOEFL as a refugee. It’ll likely depend on how many years you ere educated in a language other than English and/or in ESL classes.

Or, taking SAT would be better because it shows not only you can communicate in English but also comprehend it in-depth.
