Hi guys,
I was going through guides lately and most of them recommended the use to graphical calculator.
I am planing to take Math II as well as there is a math section in SAT I also… So please guide me that is it actually worth buying one and is it easily available in Indian stationary stores? Would it be helpful in SAT I in too?

I dont exactly know how the graph calculator will help me… Has anyone used it and pls recommend which one to buy if it is worth it…

Ti84 is something my D used since HS here in India. She continues to use it in College for Math Calc I as well as Stats & Regression, Micro and Macro classes too. I think you should buy from Bookstore/Computer store/Staples when you get to college or order it through Amazon once you reach there.

I ordered it from Texas Instrument, Bangalore, directly.

I read some where that TI 84 is banned for intro level college classes… Is it true? Pls correct if it is not becase I want to buy something which will be useful in my college as well SAT…
I cant use calculators in my school class/test or anything :\ So I want something that is helpful for SAT as well as college…

Hey My D is using it in College in US. She used it as freshman first semester for Math Calc 1 and using it for other courses in the second semester now. So if you have a doubt post it on Your accepted college’s thread, you are more likely to get an accurate info as well as confirmation there.

^Bingo ! @anialways got it right again
Texas INSTRUMENTS TI-84 Plus is exactly what everyone uses here.
And no, I dont think it is banned in colleges. In fact, it is recommended.

I took Math Level 2 and I didn’t buy one because I wasn’t willing to spend a lot on a calculator I would only use once.
It’s unusual, but it can be done. You might have some problem doing a few questions on M2, and might need to skip a couple, but just factor that into the curve and get almost everything else right and you’ll be fine.

Also-- Higher level math classes in college don’t require extensive calculator use. And there are apps online that you can use for graphs otherwise. After Calc 2 (Single variable calc), you don’t need calculators apart from having to perform small calculations which can be done with a scientific. I don’t see myself requiring a graphing calculator at least for the next year of college as well.
