The last few shows have hit so close to home. My mom had a pulmonary problem. I insisted she return to her pulmonologist and be hospitalized. They spent 4 days doing tests, but not the lung biopsy. They missed the diagnosis, and she died within months. So, my best friend has a party, and the pulmonologist is there. She sees me and turns white. Very awkward for all of us. She left ASAP. Years later, the oncologist shows up in my office with problems with her child. I outlined a treatment plan. Neither of us mentioned our past encounter years before, but she never returned.
Love Grey’s Anantomy. Until you said that I might have thought the plot was a little far fetched, but not so. Sorry you lost you mom and then had to relive it on this show.
I think that Meredith was rising to her better nature. She knows that what happened to Penny could have happened to any of them, especially in those circumstances.
@Bookworm, I’m so sorry they missed the diagnosis for your mom and she died when perhaps she may have lived longer if they had caught it and treated it promptly. That happened to my aunt as well. They told her she just had arthritis when she had lung cancer. By the time they finally diagnosed it as lung cancer, it had spread too far for treatment and she died a year later. If she had persisted and insisted it was more than her arthritis, perhaps they could have done more sooner.
Now that I am less emotional, I realize what good TV that show was. The fact that it brought back the memory of seeing the MD at the party, fleeing to the kitchen, putting on "my big girl’s face’, and her quick departure, all that was captured by Meredith. I’m sure something similar happened to Sondra Rhimes or one of the other writers.
I’m sorry Bookworm. It must be so very difficult to deal with the angry feelings that someone should pay! That their negligence cost a loved ones life…and to watch it on TV.
I’m surprised that I am still watching. I was very annoyed that they killed off Derek and was through with the show…they almost lost me after Christina. I don’t love it as much as I did, but it isn’t as bad as I thought it would be.
Amelia drives me crazy, she’s so hyper and over the top. I feel sorry already for Owen - haven’t they put that man thrrough enough without having him hook up with Amelia.
I’m still watching but finding it beyond dumb. When was the last time you went to a physician with a severe UTI and were sent home with a bottle of cranberry juice and a pain reliever?
Amelia - yes annoying. Stephanie - beyond annoying. Maggie - an idiot and I can’t stand her lisp.
P.S. for a women who invokes her “3 kids” constantly, they certainly don’t seem to cause Meridith a moment’s trouble. They are rarely seen, let alone heard (did she send them away so she could have a dinner party? Or did they sleep through a house full of people, most of them yelling?) nor do they slow down her tequila habit.

Amelia is annoying, but she’s earned it. She woke up with the love of her life dead from an OD in her bed, only to find out that she was pregnant with a nonviable fetus but chose to sustain the pregnancy to serve as an organ donor , then her brother dies in a horrendous accident. Crazy? Yes. Annoying? Yes. But she’s earned her crazy.
