Great....more snow!

Chicken soup simmering here. Who cares about the snow!

LOL apparently the WOW people came today to get their boxes… and his truck has been stuck in front of my house for over an hour. I’ve been in my room (roommates thought I was gone) and had no idea this was going on.

I want to feel bad for him, but apparently he hasn’t called a tow yet??

Well, my usual 15 minute drive home from school today was more like 45 minutes - 45 white-knuckled, slipping-and -sliding minutes. I feel like crying. They REALLY should have cancelled schools here today.

My H commutes into Detroit every day. His 45-minute morning commute was 2.5 hours today…

After I posted this morning, all the schools around my house closed, but as I work across the border in IL, we had school. My drive was 2x the normal, but coming home it was worse, and it’s still snowing (lake effect). I had to be pushed into my driveway. H was smart enough to park in the street, plow, then pull in.

I didn’t take trip insurance for our FL trip next week. Do you think I can still get it? This is a serious question.

And, we were planning to visit CA the first week in April. Now I’m rethinking that due to the water situation. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

I don’t think it’s been overhyped and exaggerated here north of NYC. We got another 8-9 inches of snow and some ice on top of that, for good measure. Spent an hour and a half shoveling out the driveway and then it started drizzling so now it’s totally black ice. All the schools around here closed. I think they’ll be in school into July… 8-|

When I bought trip insurance it had to be purchased within 48 hours or some such time limit from when you bought your plane tickets.

Schools here are already delaying opening in the morning. Temps are dropping and it is icy with a capital I. Roads are wet, and it is still snowing (even though the NWS says it has stopped!).

Glo…if your flight is canceled, you will be allowed to reschedule within a window. If you are flying SW, you will be able to bank the ticket price for the future.

Of course, I stupidly made a USAir reservation on Feb 14. Please…no snow!!

DH waited til all the snow and sleet stopped before he cleared the driveway. Of course, less than an hour later the town plows came through and dumped more snow at the foot of the driveway (this was their 3rd pass on my street today). That must be the Murphy’s Law of snow removal.

There certainly was more snow than I expected but I left for work at 8:30 this morning and thoroughly enjoyed the drive as hardly anybody was on the roads. The changeover seemed to occur later than I expected.

Thanks to both of you.

I got an entire package-flights, hotel, car, all through SW. I may have to call. all they can do is say yes/no.

Awful snow today. Just awful. Thankfully three young men came by and offered to shovel. We negotiated and they were off and running. It would have taken me two whole days to do what they did in an hour and a half.

Unfortunately, my driveway is 650 ft long and needs to be plowed for $60. It was plowed on Monday, today and most likely on Sunday or next Monday.

Our driveway is just big. We have a three car garage, a turn around, and space to park probably six cars if we needed to…maybe 8. Then there is the little hill, that goes to the street. But DD and I did it! We cleared the whole thing. We are going to have to go out in the morning and do a quick once over…we got an additional inch of snow.

played golf in 55 degree weather - nice but cold by northern california standards. Where the heck is the rain? We could use a little precipitation

They had school today but they really shouldn’t have. At 5:30 am when they have to make the call, it wasn’t that bad. By 8 am it was snowing probably 2 inches per hour- looked like a blizzard out there. The high school kids were a little late on the buses but the middle school kids missed their first period completely and the elementary kids were picked up an hour late. They ended up letting the high school out 40 minutes early so the buses would be on time to pick up the middle school and elementary kids to go home. I worked from home and am thankful for the option. If it takes me 2.5 hours to get to work, then it’s a wasted day. I can be working those hours from home and it’s all good. I’m not all stressed out and I get a lot done then.

When S got home and I could log off from work, we tackled the shoveling. There were huge drifts- foot and a half at least. It’s hard to tell how much actual snow we got because it had drifted so much. Some spots were almost bare, but those drifts were tough to shovel. I’ve really and truly had enough. Is there such a thing as snow rage?

Just so we’re very clear about how “over-exaggerated” this is:

8-|

Classes were cancelled today. Or rather, yesterday. We got about a foot and I have not left my apartment. Busses were not running either, which is rare.

A foot of snow here yesterday and 3rd day off of school tomorrow. High was about 10 today. Low will be about 10 below with 20 below windchills. Roads still not clear in many areas.

Beautiful and sunny, yet chilly in the 50s today, in Hilton Head but I’m loving it because back home it’s in the minus double digits and there’s a ton of snow. And yet, there are people who still don’t acknowledge the effects of climate change.

-3 here this morning. Supposed to warm up next week to 20’s and even 30’s. Thats a treat for us at this time of year. Lots of snow on the ground.
