As bad as I think I have it, I am so sorry for the problems just about everywhere in our country.

H& I are up north, so I hope by the time we return all the Seattle snow will have melted.

This is supposed to be funny, but I’m still not convinced this silly woman isn’t hurt. OUCH.

<a href=“Portland Jogger Falls On Her Butt In Snow Right After Local News Interview | HuffPost Entertainment”>Portland Jogger Falls On Her Butt In Snow Right After Local News Interview | HuffPost Entertainment;

My best friend lives in Houghton, MI and sent me a picture of himself on the top of the snow with his dog… the snow bank is as high as his house!

OUCH is right! Portland got a lot more freezing rain than we did yesterday. It snowed hard here all day giving us about another foot. It’s a tad icy, but not like the city.

We did, however, slide down a hill backwards in our Subaru that has studded tires. We used to live 1600 feet up a treacherous 7 mile windy road that was always covered in snow or ice. Never had one problem in the Subaru and I commuted daily to the city. We were headed to a friend’s house yesterday and their very steep driveway is off of a road with a fairly steep incline. Max decided at the last minute that he didn’t want to chance their driveway so he braked. Big mistake! We slid backwards partway down the road but he managed to stop it in a snow bank. Luckily, he and our friend were able to spin the car headed in the right direction.

The lesson for today is that the AWD system only works when one is going forward. The front tires just wouldn’t engage. Now I understand why the new Honda Pilot has both AWD and 4WD.

Yes, OUCH!!! She grabs her back, but I don’t see how she didn’t end up with a head injury.

Holy cannoli. We got three more inches of snow yesterday (or as the forecasters put it “a dusting”) and now they are predicting 6-8" more on Wednesday. Not all of my friends even have power restored from last week.

I may cry if it snows again.

Please please…just have the planes where they are supposed to be by Thursday! Snow forecast for here on Wednesday night into Thursday. I’m so sick of is!

teriwtt, I thought the same thing. Remembering Natasha Richardson’s “Oh, I’m okay, I’m fine.” Head injuries don’t always show up immediately.

My current fantasy is to drive to the airport, walk up to the ticket counter and ask for a ticket to ‘any place warm’. Granted that sort of action will raise suspicions w the TSA. Plan B is book everything on Expedia, then drive to airport. Unfortunately having a HS junior kills this fantasy.

We could get another 12+" on Thursday. Someone posted on a Facebook thread they now understand why bears hibernate.

-10 here tonight, with -15 further out. I photographed my mailbox buried in snow and will ask for bets on when the pile will melt. Good news - they say it will go above freezing someday soon.

So, Atlanta area schools are closed for two days starting tomorrow. I heard some parents comment on the news that perhaps this was “overkill.” These comments were sandwiched around those memorable pictures of the monumental traffic jams from the last storm. Forecast is for more ice this time. 8-|

there are 2 waves of bad weather predicted for the next few days, the second worse than the first. And it was 70 degrees over the weekend!

Northern CA got a little drought relief this weekend. Mt. Tam (north of Golden Gate) got 21" of rain this weekend! (woo hoo for us!) and up in Tahoe (Kirkwood) had 78" of snow in 3 days–41" on Sunday alone…but we’re still woefully behind. Sure wish the weather gods would have a little mercy on the East and send weather to the West Coast!

I think the weather god is deaf. The East is getting it again this Thursday. Just don’t let it be ice.

My forecast is all over the map. They can’t decide if we are getting 2" or more than a foot on Thursday. At least I am too far inland to get ice.

Wow, gosmom!! 78" in 3 days! 41" in 1 ?? Whoa!! Conditions must finally be great!!
So far here we have just rain. Cancelled all appointments today, which is frustrating as so far its much of nothing.

I’m supposed to have a furniture delivery as well as delivery and installation of a new dining room chandelier I ordered MONTHS ago. So far we are okay. Forecasters think most of the ice will be to the north and west. I’m crossing my fingers we stay dry. Selfishly, of course.

Okay, so what name has Al Roker and his compatriots given to the impending Eastern Seaboard snowstorm that’s coming on Thursday? I am quite annoyed with Al et al (no pun intended) because the storm they named “Maximus” was several days ago. Well last I heard, the name Maximus is supposed to mean “ultimate,” a.k.a. THE END…NO MORE, etc. Go back to your dictionary Al, Ginger, Amy, John Elliot and the rest of the gang.

Ugh…I follow some weather boards and I fear this will be ‘the big one’ for this season in the DC-NYC corridor. One model has my area getting well over 12". I have run out of places to put it. My downspouts and gutters are complete ice filled, so what’s left not he roof is dripping onto front walk & back porch. Every morning I chip away over 2" thick of ice. I hate putting down salt, as it is bad for the masonry, but I have no choice.

I’m ready to curl into a ball and cry I hate this so much.

The only bright spot is I don’t need to commute into NYC, as NJ transit has been noting in short of disaster this season, nor do I have to deal w the SOB I used to report to who had a double standard when it came to working from home or complaining about commuting issues.
